I have a couple of Sharp HVLP guns around here somewhere I think? :shruggy: But they where not where I thought they where and not touched them for 10 years. Last time I used then was when I was helping Allen 41 Husk redo is 70 Challenger.  :drool5:

So if I cannot find them, or if they are junk now and tips on affordable guns? More than likely I will buy from Harbor Freight.

What I will want to shoot.

1 High fill / spray on body filler/ cat primer. I think that take like a 2.2 tip? Been some time now so I have forgotten the correct tip sizes.

2 Base clear, think that is a 1.8 tip?

Thanks for the coming advices.

I used Harbor Freight guns, but be certain they are not just gravity feed but have "HVLP" on the box. I tried both types and the HVLP was vastly better at controlling flow. No cloud of overspray mist flowing off my carport. I'm certain they can't come close to high end "real guns" but they were good for epoxy primer with their 1.4 tip. (No tip options.)

for top coat !
been using  2  gravity sata jet nr95   hvlps got them when they first came out  late 1994 or 5 i think it was , with a 1.5 fluid tip ,  tried all the later versions nr 2000  & later ones   , imo prefer the nr 95   , with the 1.5 set up chucks the paint on , any paint brand , type ,  solvent , 2k , MS , HS   or water base ,   anything  never had a prob ,   never change needles & fluid tips to smaller either , although may be its what you get use to ,  lots use the hvlp deilvilbliss gravity  with 1.4 tip or    :o 1.3  ,  did not like it , was ok  it worked but did not hammer the paint on like the sata ,
having said this  , still  love  the old deilvilbliss JGA  suction  non hvlp  :yesnod:

gravity primer gun tip size    2 k high build primer     5 to 1  with 10 % thinner  1.8 tip is good ,    propper high build 5 to 1 ratio   2.0 fluid tip or a 2.2  a   2.2  with spay filler etc
there a few companies or one that supplies them to different places  , that have copied the sata jet  , almost these copies have not got the paint to air atomisation or what ever its called adjustment wheel like the sata . see below ,  have used one some time ago , looked & & had the feel of a sata nr 95 , closing your eyes & picking one up & pulling the trigger the feel & sound , you woud think its a sata jet  :o  , stripping it down , you would think it was a sata too , but the sata fluid tip would not interchange , slightly different  , i tried just out of curiosity ,  paint finish was identical to sata , although would of prefered it with a 1.5 tip ,

Silver R/T

Harbor Freight is ok but I'd invest a few extra dollars and buy something from ebay, even what NHCharger has suggested.
1.3 is best for clear coat, 1.4 for high solids clear coat, 1.4 for base. 1.8-2.2 for high fill primer, poly primers.

Thanks for all the answers folks!

I do know the name DEVILBISS, First time I touched one I put a 3 foot long run on the trunk of a 55 Chevy!  ::) Threw a lot more paint than a Bink's7!  :smilielol:

I know a 1.5 tip won't throw the stuff I am going to want to spray, but for $15.99 it will be a start.

Need to dig around for my Sharps next!  :shruggy:

Thanks for all the answers and Ideas!  :coolgleamA:
