I love those valve covers.
I doubt that the part on each side that says Chysler is a valve cover.  It looks like the exhaust flows through it and has water that cools it.

A383Wing

they are not valve covers....those are water cooled exhaust manifolds..kind of like what you would find in the marine application

Ghoste

Doh, you're right.  :slap:  Still cool though. :icon_smile_big:

258 hours... all at an idle I'm sure.  :yesnod:  What you think that be in miles?  :shruggy:  BTW 1BBL carb

A383Wing

when I was in the marine repair trade, everything was done in "hours" as well....

the rule of thumb was 55 miles for every hour on the meter....mainly because engines were either idling or full throttle

I'll let you do the math...my fingers don't work very well tonight

Hey, thats an odd duck, water cooled manifolds, wonder why. Motor connected backwards as well. You would think it may have been a marine app, however the propane kinda rules that out.

rule of thumb was 55 miles for every hour......

really.......My Onan has 21,395 miles on it, and, it's never left the shop

Ghoste

Someone could have gotten a bargain on a Marine engine and used it for this.

J.Bond

That motor is not propane , check the fuel line comming up around the distributor, is that not a fuel pump, bolted to the side. My Onan is powered by a Ford 300 six, was orderd as a propane set, and is fuel pump delete.

GPULLER

60HZ generator would run at 1800 PRM, little off idle I'd say.
I worked at a genset manufacture for 8 years.  They ran 460 Fords that were turboed, about 10 minutes under load all the exhaust was cherry red, turbo too.  Didnt have water cooled manifolds like the 440 in the link.   They developed the turbo kit then ran it full load for 100hrs to get warranty OK from Ford.  Water cooled manifolds would be a must, 440's make lots of heat.  :yesnod:
Selling a gasoline powered genset was pretty rare, most were LP or natural gas.  Maybe it's dual fuel?  Or it could be gasoline powered but thats pretty odd.

A383Wing

yea.....it's not propane...no LP fuel parts anywhere on the intake...
