NEVER saw an RB engine distributor like this! What is it??

First - sorry for the poor photo, but, that's as good as it gets.

The dist. in question appears to be cast iron, has a tach drive, single wire.
Note by the cap it's "normal sized", but by the base, it's wider.

Photo is from early 1970. Could it be from a Dodge heavy duty truck?  Chrysler Marine application??
Something from earlier in the 60's ?

Opinions welcome! If I can find out what it is, the next step will be to locate one,
or at least a housing to re-build.  Thanks.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Hustle Stuff/Direct Connection were selling Prestolite dual points with tach drive over the counter for years. I believe the factory Super Stocks used them.....with a transistorized box as well. I had one in a car I bought.

Ghoste

And shouldn't be too impossible to locate.  Not falling off trees either but definitely out there.

So, 'just' a Prestolite?

Sounds too easy!   Either of you have a photo of one that's cleaner?

thanks!   :2thumbs:

The Prestolite doesn't normally have the step in the housing.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I worked on a lot of marine engines that had tack drive distributors

I was thinking that as well - Just couldn't remember......I will dig up the one I have and have a look.

I'll dig up the distributor and take a pic. Wondering if it could be a Mallory or Accel etc.

Is it like this    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=421769

Nope - no vacuum advance...  Tachometer only.   I looked at a bunch of Prestolites, and none have the larger step by the bottom...
