Any idea if 295/50/15's will fit on the rear of my Charger, see below pic, I want to fill the arches more, currently have 255/60/15

The wheels are 15 x 8 on the rear

Also with the aspect ration being 50 instead of 60 will the car sit lower at the rear ?

what back space are the rear wheels ?

3-3/4" I believe

They are American Racing Outlaw 1's

68 RT

I had 295/50/15 on my 68 on wheels with 4.5 backspace. Fit fine.

moparguy01

keep in mind a 295/50 will fill the wheel wells better side to side, but its a very short tire.

JMF

Yeah I don't really want to go any lower at the rear, would spacers be a better option ?

255/60/15 is ~27.0" dia
295/50/15 is ~26.6" dia (similar to 245/60/15)
It won't be that much different from the 255's.

275/60/15 are about 28.0" dia

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

JMF

So if i'm understanding it correct with 275's the car will sit slightly higher at the rear?

XH29N0G

Slightly higher.  The pictures have 275 60 rear and 245 60 front on 15 in rims.  Rears are 15 x 8, front are 15 x 7.  There are plenty of other pictures on the wheel sizes thread that you can check for size and stance.

And remember when thinking about it in terms of car height, that one inch larger diameter will be split in half because the car is supported at the center.

JMF

Ok thanks, can someone explain why a 275/60/15 would be higher than a 255/60/15 though when it's only the width that is the difference between the two ?

Ghoste

The "60" is a ratio indicating 60% and it is sidewall height to tread width that the ratio compares.

I was also writing.... and will leave it in case you are interested.

The 255 or 275 is the width in millimeters.

The diameter  of the wheel is the rim diameter + the tire height *2.

For a 255/60, the tire height is 60/100 * 255 mm/25.4 mm/inch = 6.0 inches
For a 275/60 the tire height is 60% of 275 mm/25.4mm/inch = 6.5 inches

15 + 6 *2 = 27 inches
15 + 6.5 * 2 = 28 inches

295 tire on a 8x15 wheel & 3 & 3/4 back space  , is too much will be rubbing or cutting or close to the quarter lip on suspension compression IOM
might be able to get away with a 275  , although with that back space  is pushing it to be safe IMO ,
think ive still got mesurements written down , when I went through all this with  perceys wheel rite thingy 3 or 4   plus years ago on mine  ,  I had a idea of getting a set of the same wheels ,  will have a look  :yesnod:
