We had a phone call a few weeks ago from the shop restoring the car, asking us what paint code we used for the 1:18 scale versions we made. Anyway I guess it is painted now and he hopes to show it at the Mopars in the Park show in Farmington, MN at the end of this month. Just thought some may want to see it.

I know I'd like to see it!  Will it make any other big shows this year?

SuperJim

I would assume it will be shown at other events but don't for sure. Next time I talk to him I'll ask though.

I saw it yesterday- mostly assembled- lettering and stripe going on soon. Looks awesome!

SuperJim

Did he happen to mention if he had a lettering person lined up for sure?

I did talk with him yesterday, and he said it will be at the Mopars in the Park. I did see it at the Nat's about 3 years ago (?) and was in pretty bad shape, so l'm kind of looking forward to seeing how it look now. Just 3 weeks away now.

yea, we had that car here for a while . i checked it out well . it needed help bad but i'm not crazy about restorations  that make cars into trailer queens . i had hoped that it would be restored to it's race condition and would run exhibitions at drags .

It'll still be great to see it not rotting away.

very, very true. i wanted that car bad! but it would have taken every car and harley i own and a remortgage of my house . then i would still need cash to stabilize the rust and get it going. not willing to go into hock and lose my cars for one car

Which of Big Willies 3 cars was the car in the American Racing Equipment magazine ad?  :2thumbs:

The one to be at the show is the Light Yellow "Duke & Dutches" Daytona. The Red One (King Daytona) met it's death from being in the acid dip too long. The Green one (Queen Daytona) was crashed, and I believe. This Light Yellow one is the only remaining Big Willie Daytona.

But the King Daytona didn't meet said death until long after the American Racing ad, correct?  (just trying to know the history and timeline)

I guess it would have to be after just sitting here thinking about it.  That ad was 69 and they used the King Daytona in Two Lane Blacktop which was 71 or 72.  Did he have all three cars together at any point?

I'm not sure, as I have only seen photo's of the Red & Green car together.
