Hello.  I was wondering if anyone had removed the heater core on a 69 car with ac without removing the whole ac box....   my core has started leaking intermittently I believe and I want to get in there to maybe see if I can spot the problem without taking the whole box out.   I have the manual but I know a lot of times you guys have tips and better ways to explain things!  Any input, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The good news is that it's realy not that bad to remove the box.  With the how to's on this board you can make it a nice winter project and restore the box from top to bottom for not too much money.  If you're not up for it yet then you can simply bypass the heater for now.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Or move to FL where we rarely need heat.

Thanks for the help.  For some reason I got the impression you from the manual that the box could be opened without taking the whole thing out.  Does sound like a winter project now!

You can probably get it out ,,,BUT it's gonna be a LOT easier to do it with the box on the table

Yes, the box is pretty easy to take out. I expected it to be harder.
