Thanks! You are a great judge of silver 68 Chargers as it takes one to know one ;-)

Drove to Reilly Motorsports yesterday to pick up the front and rear suspension for the charger. Bill Reilly is a great guy and he had everything ready for pickup! Also stopped in Hazleton PA for the best chili dogs at Jimmy's! I will post a few more picture of the RMS part when I get them out of the boxes.
Thanks
Pat

Pat, I would love to try that dog joint sometime.  My wife is from PA so the next family trip we will stop by.  Thanks for posting.

Assembled the shocks using anti-seize and chased the threads on the upper control arms. Nice working on clean new stuff instead of old rusty stuff.
Thanks
Pat

White cupboards in your garage !!??? You are one tidy / clean mechanic ! Mine would be cover in an hour !

I assemble the new front wheel hubs, hats and the rotors. I used the same Wilwood 13" 6 piston brakes on my last 68 Chargers and they worked great!
Thanks
Pat

Picked up the new motor for the charger and watched a few pulls on the dyno yesterday at Indy Cylinder Head. The folks at Indy were great accommodating our dyno session and pick up on a Saturday.

The motor spec are, Aluminum 6.1 GEN 3 block that has a 4.125 bore and a 4.050 stroke, which makes it 433 ci. The crankshaft and H-beam rods are from Comstar. Diamond pistons are 10.5 to 1 and the 6.1 heads are fully CNC. Comp cam Hydraulic roller cam .572/.576 with .240/.244. MSD ignition and Fast EFI dual throttle bodies.

On 92 octane she had an average of 635 hp and 536 Lb ft of torque.
I'll post a few pictures later today

Thanks
Pat

Any idea what the complete engine assembly weighs?

Any idea what the complete engine assembly weighs?

When Indy removed the motor from the Dyno they weighed it without the alt, AC, PS, & flywheel and it was 470 lbs
The weight savings from the motor should help offset the added weight to reinforcing the chassis.
Thanks
Pat

Its still enough though isn't it?  What with all the alloy and such.  :2thumbs:

I put the Moser 9" rear together, I ordered 3.70 gears and a Detroit Truetrac differential.
Thanks

I've got the same 6-piston Wilwoods as well, they are excellent!  :yesnod:

Pat, I am amazed at how fast this project is coming together with all the neat stuff you are doing. This is going to be an awesome car!!  :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

I used the same Wilwoods on my silver charger and I was very happy with them also! The only difference was I used red calipers on the silver Charger but with this car I chose to go black so with the custom wheels it would look more like the hubcap. As for the speed of this project I'm sure things will slow down quite a bit when I get to the body work and paint.
Thank you
And I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

QuoteIts still enough though isn't it?  What with all the alloy and such.

A stock iron B/RB wedge is around 650, very roughly.  A 440 with the AC compressor will be a few dozen more.  A bare-bones 383/400 will be a few dozen less.

With tube headers, aluminum heads, intake, and water pump housing, an iron-block B/RB motor will be about 100 lbs lighter than stock.

I move the Charger to Kurt's Hot Rod shop to start the really dirty part of the restoration. I will do the body work and paint here as we did on my son's Mustang.
Thanks
Pat

That's got to be the nicest looking Charger I've ever seen with patch panels!  :yesnod:
