I was thinking of the Daytona in the museum but now that you mention it Dave, I don't think I have ever seen that Amoco one before.  Cool.

There were three Amoco cars in the series.  The Daytona, a then current era NASCAR Dodge, and a NASCAR Dodge truck.

Well if your building a vintage racecar, and fastidious about details, you could add those "plugs" even in a hollow sheetmetal formed wing...oh wait, I've already done that for a customer :icon_smile_big:

That step seems like overkill for a detail which was normally covered up and painted over even by the roughneck bodyguys at Creative Industries.  My car still had the hard brown filler used to smooth over its casting plugs - as well as a number of casting porosity cavities.

It's all good - I've done more than my share of fastidious detail work only to promptly cover it up to never see the light of day again.   :icon_smile_blackeye:

With that said, the bare/polished look of that wing upright is pretty eye-catching.

Fuel cap on the side is a nice touch.
I wonder if the overflow outlet at the base of the rear window is functional?
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Hi guys

Sorry to keep you hanging, but I know very little about the car and waiting to hear back from a guy who knows more.
It's my understanding this car came into New Zealand in the very early 70,s like this, but with different decals (88 number) etc, so it may have some US race history. The VIN on the dash is XH, so I guess it's not an original Daytona or 500, but like the quarters, this could have been changed over.

More info soon.

Ok, I know a little about this car, but haven't seen the pics of it done until yesterday when you posted. It  was converted to the Daytona recently. It has all the original parts off this car after it was wrecked while racing, also has quite a bit of new AMD stuff on it too.

Was it the car that was at the Steve Millen ranch driveway time trials in the Coromandel a couple of years ago??
