Hood insulation pad

Thinking about replacing my hood insulation pad. I see a few different options out there. What is the most correct one if you want an original look? I found this on eBay:

I also found this fiber molded one:

A lot more costly though...

Any thoughts?

Did your car originally come with one? LEON.

No clue really...  :shruggy: This car had a hard life before I bought it. There is a pad in there now, but it's not anyway near correct. Was this pad an option? I assumed that all cars had it but I might be wrong?

As far as I know you only got the under hood pad if you opted for the J55 Option which was extra Undercoating at extra cost. LEON.

Ah, right... Unfortunately I don't have the build sheet, guess I would need that to know for sure if my car came with the J55 option. I will anyway get a correct pad installed since it saves the hood a bit from all the heat. I wonder what the thinking was behind that J55 option. Undercoating + hood pad? I don't directly see the need for a hood pad if I ordered extra undercoating?  :popcrn:

The reasoning for it was they were both considered part of the sound deadening. LEON.

P.S. Should be on your fender tag if factory.
