Here is a pic of the f-tag of a car I heard about and chased 20 years ago. Not an original Canada shipped Bird but has been here a long time. Someone told me possibly from New Jersey
The nose was hit hard and the car sat. I believe it was repaired with an original nose.
Owner died a few years ago and his brother had it put back together.
Notice the XXX on the original tag.
I believe it is for sale in Hemmings now. They are still out there.

all that money put into the car and it has a "double pulley alternator" instead of a single pulley.....I can't begin to tell you how many times I see that at local car shows as well.....

I'm also thinking some of those plug boots on the distributor should be the 90* style for some of the cylinders...

I'd have to check but three of the boots are 90 *

All Hemi's from at least 69 up had dual pulley alternators. Why? Who knows.....but that is what everyone came with from the factory. Although this one doesn't have a properly numbered "Hemi" alt.....it has the A/C alt....which looks pretty well the same.

Also - Wires are correct for a Hemi.

Well if we're gonna pick, the latch tray should be semi gloss and the bolts black oxide !

My dad bought this car out of Shreveport Louisiana in 1980.   It had a 440 in it at the time.   He flew down and drove the car back to Milwaukee.   He never looked at the VIN until he examined the title at a rest stop and discovered the R code.    I guess that was a bonus.      :smilielol:

The car was sold in the summer of '80 to Mark Decastro in NJ.  Dad drove the car to New Jersey to deliver it as we have relatives there.    I was coming back from some event in my Cyclone  and remember the Superbird passing me on I-80 somewhere in Indiana.   Mark put a Hemi back in it.   If the nose got damaged, that came later.   It was a solid car.

A response like THAT is exactly why Doug is worth his weight in gold (or at least Bitcoin, since this is the internet and all...).

That's cool Doug!
That would explain the 68 engine and carbs. The K-frame is a '68 as well (either due to the 440 swap or the accident later). Due to the 68 k-frame.....no front sway bar. Still a solid car.
