1295 miles?

Looks like the lot attendant has taken it down to the gas station a few times to top it off since the ad was written  :drool5:

C500

"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

So did Galen certify those mufflers as correct????? like he did with the rest of the car??? :brickwall:

I will never understand how people want top dollar and refer to their super rare car as being "restored" and have easily visible aftermarket mufflers hanging on it. There are reproductions available from a number of sources that would look so much better that those. :eek2:

rear reflector bezel is wrong, should be body color

They're more correct than the headers. No matter - not exactly a hidden issue and all easily changed out.

If Galen looked at this car and says the mileage is legit he is wrong. Car was driven more miles than shown in one trip in the 80's. One previous owner drove the car from Arizona to Indy in the 80's.

Just a simple search on this site will show pictures of this car from the 80's.

RallyeMike

That would explain why they had no problem putting 40+ miles on it since the ad was written. A 1200 mile original car more typically sans fuel/oil and pushed around a showroom by people in white gloves.

People have no shame  :rotz:

I'm not aware of this C500 ever being in Arizona previously and I've been here since 1971.  Not saying I know every car in a state that is almost the same size as New England but...
I hope you are not confusing this 500 with mine as mine is a 4 speed car and is quite a bit more original at 74,000 miles.

Was this the car for sale or at auction in 2014. I think it sold for $189, 000. I think I have it saved on my external hard drive, if I can find it I will post it.

Not confusing it with your car Chris. Previous owner in 81 was from Colorado. But had been in Arizona for a short time. He drove that car to Indy back in 83 or 84. Car was non numbers matching at that time.
