I'm only posting this so there is a record of the vin.  This tragedy happened to one of my best friends and I do not want to air his laundry on the internet.  Please do not turn this into a place to rant or spread rumors please.  Daytona XX29L9B410767 has been lost to a warehouse fire.  Car was a 440 4 speed 4:10 dana car.  I owned this car from 1982 through 1994 and my friend has owned it pretty much since 1994.  This car was lost in addition to many other high end Mopars. :rotz:

C5X DAYTONA

F6 car to boot.  Him and I were talking about the car not too long before the fire.  He said you and him were very good friends.
Caution.... Low flying aircraft.

Chris ,very sorry for your friend.

Car lost was in southern California in the early morning hours the day after Christmas.

fc7_plumcrazy

it is a very sad story.
There was a worse loss for the owner than just the cars

No it is not the same car.  I owned this particular Daytona and it was a 440 4 speed.  It was originally F6 however when I got it in 1982 it was a mess as far as the paint was concerned.  We stripped it to bare metal and painted it R4.  Yeah... I know.  I was 19 years old.  What did I know???

Such a true tragedy on all accounts. A friend of mine was trying to purchase the 71 GTX he had and that car was destroyed.

Man, that sucks.
So when do we get to see carnage pics? ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

moparchris

As far as I am concerned there will NEVER be "carnage" pictures.  As much as it probably seems removed to most people here, this was a terrible family tragedy and it is not suitable to advertise the extent of the event.  Simply stated as far as this Charger community is concerned XX29L9B410767 is gone.  It was one of many highly desirable cars lost.

Charger_Fan

Alright, I won't ask for pics then. I can only imagine how terrible it must feel to have a collection like that go up in smoke.

Sort of sounds like it was more than just the collection that was lost.

Hi Chris,

I was lucky enough to work on one of Ken's hemi cars a while back.
A wonderful Guy indeed, his heart must be broken into many pieces.
A tragic loss, both of a family member and a lifetimes collection of rare cars.

Ken had helped a friend of mine in the Valley, when he was down on his luck.
He had lost his son in a tragic car accident and wrecked his whole existance...
Ken gave him a financial step-up for the last few years of his sad life.

A Mopar friend of mine here in the UK lost his son recently.
Its times like this you really need your Mopar friends.

Best wishes to you Chris and Ken.
God bless you both.

Moparchris,

Sorry to hear about this loss.

Would you be willing to post any pics of the car as it was in its heyday - for posterity?

moparchris

I have just gotten the hang of my scanner, so yes, I'll get some pictures posted of the car.

New to the group, but the car went to Ohio last week to start the rebuild.  The 71 gtx pilot car and the cougar is up the road from me and will be at my shop shortly to start the rebuild.  I got the purple 70 v code charger and hope to start on it soon. Very tragic story and we are praying for the family
