Crazy money for a car that isn't completed. Also the rear plug and window look funky.

....I don't like the trunk floor that looks like it was finished buy my seven year old son either!

STINGER was doing a clone to sell their SUPERBIRD KITS  It Was B 5  BLUE Car that may be it  :shruggy:

farm966

I believe Stinger sold that car at Garlits a couple years back, it was complete with nose decals I thought. If the gymrat Mike Hill reads this maybe he remembers, I believe the Stinger bird was parked next to his birds at Garlits that year when it was sold.

oldcarnut

I can't tell by the pics on my phone what wing that one has, but doesn't Stinger (AAR) make a one piece wing?

Aero426

The closer you look, the nastier it gets.   Headliner around the rear glass is pretty ghetto.  Dat rear window plug!   Trunk floor by Jerry's kids.

If it would have been me I would take the 50 and run don't walk run to the bank

That's what happens when a support channel is not applied to the stock window area before the plug is installed, those not experienced/knowledgeable in plug install attempt to attach the plug to the stock B body window channel....even GrungeYard Carz managed to FUBAR a plug install on a "real" bird no less

look familiar to the B5 bird

Then they "corrected" it by pulling up the vinyl top and building up the plug with several inches of bondo to achieve the required shape... :-\ although that fact was edited from the viewers at home so that they appeared to be consummate professionals

held1823

wow.  did  they remove the factory support piece(s) to cause that?

If your referring to the GYC pics?, I guess they initially forgot to add/reinstall it when they replaced the entire roof/rear qtrs with AMD sheetmetal

held1823

ah,  that explains it. i didn't realize it got a new roof

And it still doesn't look right. I spent a lot of time on mine. We'll see how it looks once the vinyl goes on.

Hence, the italics on "corrected"  :icon_smile_big:

I assume the plug is flush with the window opening to be correct. Am I right?

they didnt even fix it properly they just pulled the top up enough to fix  filling the plug surround right , then glued it back down leaving a line instead of installing a new top properly  ( cool seam Hey ??  LOL )  it goes all the way across the roof to the other side

That is surprising they did that. I have saw Mike's white bird on several occasions but I never looked for that line in the top. I was surprised they goofed up on the plug myself as they claim to be Mopar experts. I like the cars on the show, but the lead guy is way too full of himself in my opinion.

billssuperbird

I Thought on a real bird after some time you will see a seam we're the plug and roof meet because the way they Installed them back the 1970.

Surely, they deduct points for over restoration!    :shruggy:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

I think the line Stu is referring to is where GYC pulled the vinyl back....Look about mid way above the passenger rear glass...

Unless you restore your 60s/70s mopar with paint runs on all interior panels (and everywhere else that does not show!) , mismatched panel gaps, vinyl roofs with the edges trimmed by mice around the chrome trim and general poor (even for the time) build quality....then yes you are over restoring! :smilielol:

Overall I thought the blue bird clone was reasonably presentable and auction listing seems to be the going rate for painted clones. Perhaps that bird clone was the same unfinished one with all fiberglass parts  that listed and sold for 30k + not too long ago.
