was just looking thru the '69 sunroof Charger Registry https://moparsunroofregistry.com/sunroof-cars/

& was surprised to see roughly 50 of 400 built accounted for  :shruggy: about 12%, that seems awful low survival rate for what was a pretty expensive car when new that should've been taken care of to survive its early years  :coolgleamA:

ONLY one small block  :eek2: surely there are more?

where did they all go?

F8-4life

Only two possible reasons for this..

One being, the big hole in the roof caused accelerated rust issues and low survival.

Or two, all the grannys still have them parked in there garage, covered in bedsheets, becuase "it was.. there special sunroof car".

LOL

The Sunroof caused accelerated rust, the rear sunroof drain tubes ran inside the C pillars and just dumped the water inside the rear qtr window pockets, which would rot out the top of the rockers and lower rocker/qtr section from the inside out, same with the front drain tubes running down inside the A pillars, it would just rot the lower cowl/floor/front fender segment from the inside out, after the tubes would become clogged with rust/leaf debris/dirt/etc the water would back up in the sunroof cassette/tub and eventually rot the sunroof/surrounding roof skin/structure, then leak onto the floor causing that to rot as well if an owner was negligent in solving drain conditions, most sunroof parts cars are so rotted they're junk, and often the sunroof unit is just a parts donor as well for another unit, or needs extensive rebuilding if it's your sole acquisition

I cut one up and parted it out in the late 80's.
ALL rusted out.
Had: am-fm, a/c, tinted power windows, 6 way seat, 383-4bbl, 727, 3.23 posi, rear defog, etc.
T5 with white top and interior.   A guy bought the shell for the sunroof stuff.

I agree about the clogged drain tubes.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

moparstuart

My buddy Kyle Drake had one that sat next to Mopar Johns two daytona in the junk yard , it got cut up in the mid 80's and wayne perkins ended up with the roof  , He kept it for many years and I think sold it in the last few years  .
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

tan top

I remember reading years ago in a mopar  mag  prolly mopar muscle  , before he went to HP mopar  ( no  longer have any mopar mags to check gave them away years ago ) , anyways  Galen govier's page by the numbers ,  Galen mentioned he bought a 69  charger with a sunroof in the 80s , drove it home & then parted it out  ,  think it was red white top & interior , 383 SE & power windows ,  don't qute me on this  , I could easily be getting mixed up with something else ,  :shruggy:
