Cooling System

What does everyone use in their cooling system? Pluses and minuses of using water or a mixture of H2O and anti-freeze?
Water wetter for example suggests that it works better in water. Does distilled water matter when mixed with coolant?   :popcrn:

I run a 50/50 mix of coolant and water in mine, not sure about the distilled water but the water I use is well water. I never used that water wetter stuff, I wonder if it works or not.....

It doesn't work miracles, but does lower the temp somewhat.
Now you say 50/50, is that the premixed or full coolant and water?  :scratchchin:
Distilled water is said to NOT have the chemicals that speed up the rust process. So your well water would be the same I would think.

I've always used distilled water.  Whether it's a myth or not about chemicals and rust, I do anyway.

50-50 here, full coolant.

I use WaterWetter.  My gauge said it was 5 degrees cooler when put to the test (all else equal, typical 106 degree weather, a Saturday show and a Sunday show, added on Saturday evening).  So gauge read 190 vs. 185, is that worth it?  I don't know, but again it's just another piece of insurance.

Is it true that you can't use antifreeze when racing at a drag strip?  That they check to see any green in the radiator and won't let the car on the track?

In Pennsylvania I have always mixed half water half antifreeze for the past 30 years, now I just buy/use 50/50 mix and carry extra in the trunk, just in case, which came in handy, twice this year. Dame those forty year old parts.
Just recently the person at the auto parts store wanted to sell me antifreeze made special for my Aluminum parts :shruggy:.  What's in your trunk?
