I saw this ad recently. Has a 71/72? (I am not up on 3rd gens) B5 Charger in it. I think the hideaway headlights were only available those two years for 3rd gen cars?

It seems to be a 72 with 71 hideaways added. Hard to see if hideaways are 71 or 72 fully blacked out.

Hideaways were standard just on 71/72 SEs and 72 Toppers. Then optional on 71 R/Ts and Supebees, same as 72 Rallyes.

Not anymore on any 73/74

Damn beat me to it!! I was going to post this up. Good job.  :2thumbs:

I seen this commercial yesterday during the NFL games.

It's a 1972 Charger. The side marker light and the grille are the indicators.

Saw this at work the other day. I said "hey a 72 charger." One of the girls heard and asked, "do you like that generation?" Turns out her dad is a big 3rd gen guy as well.

Yes hard to tell because you can't see the vertical lines. The 71 has less vertical lines than the 72. However the 71s have a "DODGE" emblem located on the driver's side headlight door. I can't see that on the Charger in the commercial so that's how I came to it being a 72 grille.

Here's a pic to see the differences between the two grilles.

EDIT: Also the 72 grill has a wider horizontal accent line.

Nacho-RT74

Dodge badge can be there or not.

Pretty sure the accent line is the same width just the chromed finish makes it to look wider or not. You can fit a 72 grill with 71 door and will match

a better pic for the jack slot AND the light reflection over the headlight doors shows is definitelly a blacked out 72 hideaways setup ( well at least the doors LOL )
