So there's no turning back now.....I just put in a large parts order to get all the sheet metal, suspension and brake parts I need. Whilst the order itself wasn't too expensive, freight to the great land Down Under is almost as much as the parts I ordered   :icon_smile_angry: Unfortunately most of the parts I need for the body work need to be special ordered or not in stock so I wont see the parts until May. I guess I've waited this long a couple more months won't kill me (or will it  :shruggy: ).

The body shop and I have agreed on a colour. He showed me the 68 Charger, but I found a colour that I want that a paint supplier he uses has already (the VW Beetle). There's not too much difference except the Charger is more "purple" than the more "black" the beetle has

I have been stripping the paint to see how much rust there actually may be hidden. Apart from the obvious spots due to the vinyl roof, the car is solid and rust free! I found some accident damage on the passenger door so it needs a new skin. Now just waiting for the parts to arrive before it goes to the body shop for its makeover

Yes it has been long overdue.

A substantial order of parts including both rear quarters, deck filler, floor pan, rear tail panel (not really required but works out cheaper to get a new one and fit it than trying to attach new sheet metal to it), rear valance and corners, passenger door skin, front and back glass, upper control arms, front disc brake conversion and many more little bits and pieces has been placed to get this car drivable. Once the parts arrive (about May), the car will go to the body shop and get the rear sheet metal removed, the floor pan replaced and a new firewall made. Then sand blasted and the under side painted (including all the internal structure). I will get the body back to then fit the suspension, diff, brakes etc before it will go back to the body shop to finish it off.

Wow, after 18 months of waiting and delays, then more waiting and more delays, I finally got all my parts! I was waiting on a floor pan and kept getting delayed. Summit Racing were awesome and offered a slightly more expensive option as a substitute and shipped it without charging extra!

The car is booked to go into the body shop in a few weeks. I'm not going to see the car until all the new panels are fitted and aligned

What a journey!

She's packed and ready to go!

New rear quarters
New floor pan
New roof
New taillight panel
New deck filler
New rear valance and corners
New inner wheel well

Whilst doing some investigating, I found the passenger door was hit so that will be new too.

Hopefully soon, it will resemble a Charger again

Well it has been a while......

The old girl has been stripped, sand blasted, epoxy prime red and new panels are now on the outside. Still have the floor pan, rear deck filler and roof skin to be fitted properly. Then I get her back for some final tweaking and complete the RHD conversion. Then back for paint

70 sublime

When you do the RHD conversion how do you move the steering ?
Do you get a different steering box for the right side or do you put a chain drive under the dash to go over to other side to run the original steering shaft some how ?

Darkman

The steering box has been replaced with a RHD rack and pinion on a modified K frame. I haven't figured out how I'm going to transfer the steering column support yet. I'll need to get the car back before that happens

Is it required you change it to RHD?
