I am going thru a engine that has been sitting for about 10 years. Moved around a couple times from damp garage to another.  Changing gaskets looking it over that kind of stuff.

I am seeing some rusty scale in the intake runners and wondering the best course of action to clean it up.

Do i strip the heads and get them professionally cleaned/dunked? Do i scrape and coat?

Looking for some advice.

I wouldn't bother with any coating, except maybe oil, something that would wash off easily.  Are you going to use them soon?  A few small wire brushes, maybe a round copper fitting brush.  A hand propane or MAPP gas torch would be handy - heat the rust gently as you brush it, it helps to drive it off.  Or have them tanked.
