For those that like trains, like myself, this is one of the most awesome things ever! Can't wait to see it someday. I saw the Challenger back in 1991 at Hinkle, OR. Was with the DD40 at the time.

The Big Boy truly is an awesome machine.

The wife and I got to see it at the Union Pacific steam shop in Cheyenne while it was being rebuilt last
July. :coolgleamA:

The sight of that behemoth in motion gives me a woody. Can't imagined the thrill of being in the cab.  :2thumbs:

A little over five years in restoration, not much time considering its complexity.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

If you want to see the schedule for Nos. 844 and 4014 you can go to https://www.up.com/heritage/steam/schedule/index.htm. There is a sign up link for the Steam Club on the page which will keep you updated with the schedule as it changes if you want to see if you can see them in person.
For those that like trains my favorite site is https://www.railpictures.net/ for pictures.

My parents were always into old steam engines and the old steam tractors even. Now I love the steam trains.  :yesnod: I'm in a few train groups on Facebook.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

After the run to Ogden and back for the Golden Spike anniversary ,UP President said the 4014 Big Boy would be doing excursions around the UP system this summer.

I looked into the trip this weekend with the Big Boy and Northern double heading a 150 mile trip. $3000 a seat (donated to charity) Little rich for me. Would have been nice.

I have seen ATSF 3751 and UP 3985.    UP 844 came thru one morning at work and I got to get up in the cab. They are cool! Seen the DD40 one time when it pulled up to our depot. That locomotive is big!

Thanks for posting the vids...  they've been popping up on FB for a week or so.  I've had a thing for these trains for years.

Yet I'm still too lazy to get over to Scranton PA to see Big Boy 4012.   :shruggy:

Cool,
My dad is a retired from Southern Railways . He started back in the late 60s as a brakeman. worked his way up to engineer over several years. So Ive been  around rail road stuff all my life.
Pop was the engineer on one of the old steam engines back in the early 70s for a few weeks. That was pretty cool.
