Working on the cluster as well this week.
Saved, reused and restored as many components as possible. The one thing I didn't like I will need to address is the instrument cluster bezel where PG Classics has the hole borders not paint, let chrome. They should be black. May price what GCAR will cost and sells these.

Curious on this, did you use a decal kit for the instruments? The font on the speedometer seems a bit different from the original?

I choose to try the OER products... I used them on the 70 Charger R/T I'm working on and the price to get my originals redone (gauges, speedometer, clock, tach was going to be EXPENSIVE !!!)  << this relates to the balancing act of the financial part of this resto.. But, have the original gauges...

Operation drivetrain; 69 Hemi Charger 500
Well, had a mission to mate the tranny to the engine today and get it on the dolly and k-member with some components installed.. Went ok.. Pulled a stupid move and had the passenger side motor mount insulator flipped and fought the damn thing for a while. Call my friend J and sure enough... After frustration, always good to get a fresh set of eyes and experience. Of course, my Hemi Daytona was sitting right there and could have looked.. 😁

Operation didn't go without a casualty... Power steering gear box slipped out of my hands and Kaboom, crack and break... The low pressure return line..  Should be able to find one of those..

Of course, I still have a bunch of little details to add like heater hose nipples, clips, alternator, etc... But today's mission accomplished.

You need to take some time & clean that garage up to make some working room.

I did.. I moved the Daytona out of the way........ it is hard to "put stuff away" when you've been collecting parts for 40+ years and place them in a residential-type of garage.... I'm lucky to even have a 4-car garage......... Wish I had more room.......

Operation dash installed; Hemi C500.

Well, installed the dash this afternoon. Finally, table is clear. Julius lent me this nifty hook to secure the dash so I can take the time to attach the heater cables up and secure other items.. Then, swing it up to secure.. Really nice and it helps when you are solo like me.. Got some quality time today... This working for a living really cuts into one's Mopar time.

Operation "Houston: we have install... "

Started setting things up this morning to install the drivetrain in the 500.. that motor in this shape hasn't been like this since the late 70's.. It's time. Thanks to my friend coming over to help. For all the naysayers that say you HAVE to remove the passenger valve cover,,, Naaaaaaa.. with a little wiggle and some towel/small piece of carpet for the shock tower, in she went.

Installed a Hemi that way several times myself. In fact, a 440, with the exhaust manifolds on is just about as wide as a Hemi.

All I do is juck up the right side of the engine cart. Start that side in and over to the right. Then it's easy from there

"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

This is an amazing restoration. Your attention to detail is spot on.  :2thumbs:

Well, As they say, "they come and they go"... Well, such is the case of the Press Release C500. I recently came into a potential purchase of a mopar I like and placed a What-if-for-sale on Facebook. Well, low and behold I had a interested individual and he bought the car.... Soo,, the car will be finished by someone else. I'll be making the journey to pick up my next purple Mopar in the middle of the month.... I'll share once that happens....

I learned ALOT during the restoration of this 500, knowledge that will always be with me and have met some really nice individuals during the process....

This Chapter closed...

This makes 2 500's and a Superbird at least.

The clue for the next one is purple: 70/71 six pack or Hemi Super Bee or Charger, or 70/71 six pack or hemi e body
