I need to adjust the deck lid torsion bars on my 73' Charger.
Question is which is the correct adjustment tool?

I have seen 2 versions.

Thanks all !

I just tired a rope to mine and pulled to adjust. That was years ago and adjusted them.

+1. Not on my car, but on a friend's car who added a wing on deck lid

Yeah an old timer at the car cruise was telling me to use a pry bar and a rag to not scratch the paint. He said to crawl in the trunk and do it that way. :shruggy:

I like the rope idea more than the screwdriver deal or the 2 different tools on E-Bay for $80

Nacho, I added the wing years ago and have been using a piece of wood to keep the trunk open when I need to, like adjusting my amps.LOL , really I get all kinds of shit at the cruises about it. :RantExplode: :hah:

Plus it has been bugging me to do...gonna' have my wife or kid get in the trunk tomorrow with some rope.... :2thumbs: :yesnod: ;D

Same than my buddy.

Toward to rear. With Open trunk will release some of the tension and makes it easier. Once leaves the notch the tension bar will pull you to the front. So try to keep the force to pull it out to rear at the same time you release from the notch. Pull it out diagonally to release it from the notch and get it inserted on the next one at the same time. Even you still have two notches left ,one notch uses to be enough.

I also agree with the rope trick.  Works very well. Did it on my 68 Coronet.  I remember it didn't take much muscle to to pull with the rope.  This was back in the early 90's.
