I've started on my Daytona clone project.
I plan on driving this thing all the time. So it will be very versatile, but scary.  :icon_smile_big:
Rather than deal with the issues on this website with picture resizing... and since I already started a forum page at an easier site to deal with over at
https://ramchargercentral.com/ ...
I'll post a link with the story and pictures to there...

I really wanted a "real" glass back window.
But, checking all the sources... there's nothing out there anymore.
And after some digging... the guy that was making them out of a shop in Los Angeles, kinda as a hobby/ side project, died. Now nobody has picked up the ball and ran with it.
I even looked at 67-68 Shivett Impala rear windows... they're real close. But being tempered, you can't cut them without the risk of breaking them.
Oh well. I want to put hold straps on the back window anyways. Easier to put holes in the plastic than tempered glass.

Nice work Kurt!

That's the best use of a very rusty 70 Charger EVER!!! :2thumbs:
$9500 for a SCHWARTZ chassis is a 'big hit' but well worth it with your plan...

Gotta be a VEGA Hatch for clones I'm afraid, not many options, (Viva la France clone).

Truly wonderful to see folks still doing THIS STUFF! :notworthy:

Got to be RamChargerMental.com :shruggy:

Thanks for the nice comments.
Yep. I always wanted a Daytona ever since I saw my first one on the showroom floor at Anaheim Dodge back in '69. I was in the 9th grade and rode my Schwinn Sting Ray over there after school. I went home and told my parents all about it. We went over after dinner to look at it. They said it was the most impractical/ugliest car ever. I told them it would be worth a lot of money someday. They said no way and blew me off. Well...
That Schwartz chassis was a bit more than that... that $9500 was their BASE price.  ;) I ended up with a full course meal there. But it's ALL done.  I was looking around at chassis's for quite a few years and glad I settled on this one. Glad you liked my "Wood Years". Schwartz is the only company that ships this way. Makes sense to me.
I'll end up doing Janik's composite rear window more than likely. Not the best. But like I mentioned... I can drill through the plastic better than the tempered glass.
I thought I'd might be shunned around here for what I'm doing.  :shruggy: But it isn't exactly a "number's matching" '70 Charger prime unit to begin with.

Yes to Ramcharger Central! They are the most knowledgeable group of characters I've meet on the internet. When it comes to Mopar trucks... there's no one better out there.

Only two ways to get a Daytona my friend?

Win the Lotto or build a clone!

503 made, maybe 400 still exist?

Nearly 8 billion people on the planet, half of them have got a driving licence.
If one percent want a Wingcar-Mopar then there's gonna be a lot of CLONES! :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

be like Seb, start 'em young...Viva la France!

Oh I started mine young.
My daughter is now 40. And shes owned 4 Challengers already. A  '73 when she was in high school. A 2010 Classic R/T. A 2016 Shaker hood. Those last two she wore out driving a bunch. Now she has a 2019 SRT T/A...

My son, who is 37, is building a '41 Power Wagon that's finally almost done... https://ramchargercentral.com/mopar-trucks/my-son's-'41-power-wagon/

My grand daughter is being indoctrinated into the Mopar fold to. She loves my truck... https://ramchargercentral.com/mopar-trucks/my-'74-power-wagon-i-ordered-from-dodge-on-873/
Shes a little scared of my sons '41... it doesn't have a windshield in it yet.  :icon_smile_big:

So we're back to work on the Daytona after a couple weeks worth of delays.
My son got the passenger side inner fender panel made up a few weeks ago. Today he got the drivers side done.
He loves playing with his bead roller. I need to get them both bolted up.

I temporarily installed the dash so we can move to the interior to install the roll cage next.

KurtfromLaQuinta

My ex- son in law told me today that I don't need the front support/ hood latch brace. I'll figure out how to build a Daytona soon.  ;)
Also the headlight buckets are going quickly too.

Just leave it empty lol...

Keeps the engine cooler... :2thumbs:

I considered that.
But this thing is going to be a driver. And I wanted to protect the engine bay somewhat.

KurtfromLaQuinta

We started back again on the project finally after a long lull.
I pulled the fenders off and the inner panels my son built. So he could access the back side where they need to have mounts fabbed up. He cut off all the old mounts to clean that up...

He started on the roll cage while I did some stuff to his '41 Power Wagon.

Roll cage mocked up for welding...

Why thanks Bob!
Big plans are afoot.
I need to get this done before I get too old... or run out of money.  ;D

I LOVE the plywood wheels!
It's a simple solution that Schwartz Performance uses for transporting the chassis. And it works well. The other frame companies out there ship their product in a crate. Not conducive for easy movement.
