Does anyone know where can I purchase the proper 12 bell nuts needed to mount an R/T insert into the bulgehood opening? ... I've read people saying they are worth $180 but can't find any mention as to where to get them.....I'm changing my '74 ventless bulgehood in very nice condition to a '71 R/T bulgehood....pretty excited as I have had this insert for two years and finally got a nice insert hood...gonna match up nicely with my rear window louvers....last thing for the hood....12 nuts...lol

What's my late '73 / '74 hood worth? ...nearly as rare as a '71 insert hood with having no vents

Daytona R/T SE

I think Frank Badalson makes them, He's in business with Roger Gibson:

The studs all appear to have been removed...looks like clean threads in each of the boss mounts...must be similar to a tail light housing mount  with a stud and mount nut....I'm not certain as to the mounting studs and nuts as I have just been collecting parts thus far...my parts books don't show these attaching hardware parts....just the inserts..or excuse me the hood ornament  :brickwall:

Sure appears to look like what I may be after.....thanks for the link....

Wonder if this will work for me from R/T specialties? .....NUT/STUD SET 71/72 AIR GRABBER

Price: $192.00

Those reproduction bell nuts from R/T specialties look pretty dead on!   Here are some originals, compare them to the repro's. These are also used on the '71 &'72 Road Runner hood "call out" inserts They are probably used on the '71&'72 Air Grabber inserts also.

Someone on this site mentioned having some for sale earlier this year both new and used.
Intended to get with them to buy some for my 71 R/T hood but never did.
Your insert looks better than mine. A couple of the louvers on mine are bowed down as if something was set on top of it. Can those be straightened with out damaging them?

I've heard this is a common problem with sagging louvers....I think it is caused from engine heat over time...ya know how things naturally sag over time...are ya married? ..lol...sometimes people run these inserts without the lower reinforcement mounted to get fresh air in..and a that's cool factor...lol...just another thing for the 3rd gen guy's

chgr500

Can't beat that...$40...good old ebay....I did phone and inquire to R/T specialties and he said the nuts and studs are the same for the different styles of inserts as far as he knows.....guess I'll see when I get em..plus there are 16 nuts in the auction...R/T specialties was 12 nuts & studs @$192 +tax

Around $2300 into this hood now thus far..doh! ..I'm going to sell my '74 bulge hood to help offset the cost....not much left to buy for my car now...well maybe a couple of R/T doors???? ....got most other options on there now....cars going to a body shop in late Jan. '08 to have both quarters repaired for rust and dents...this will make the car nearly rust free...I will drive it like this again next summer with some different wheels and tires and then hopefully next winter will be tear down for complete body and paint....which is a problem 'cause I can't decide on what color....I'm leaning on going triple black with some flat or matte on the bulge, wing, louvers and spoiler and maybe wheels.. :drool5:...I'm swapping out my 15+7 cop wheels to 15+8 steel wheels to accomadate a wider tire for the rear...currently 255/60 15

Notice the poor key search words for the listing...likey why I was the only bidder...lol..I caught the auction using air grabber for a search word

different style nut than originals

bee1971

Yes it's an 15 year old thread - Not a lot of info out there

I have 11 factory original bell nuts and all 12 studs for the R/T Louver - Bell nuts are the same for the Superbee hood insert , however studs are different where they screw into the fiberglass portion of stud

Are these reproduction bell nuts the same thread pitch as factory ? Year One sells them - R/T Specialities sells them

Getting conflicting info on these reproduction bell nuts versus the factory thread pitch  - Damn things are not cheap and want to order 12 reproduction bell nuts

My cars are in storage , but might go over and pull a stud and bell nut to check thread pitch

Thanx Scott
