Why do people use different Topline Johnson lifter part numbers?

I see people use B-2011, A-2011, A-0976, and there's also A-0812 in the catalog.  What gives?  What do I need to know to choose the right part?

The A2011 vs. B2011 vs HT2011 vs. etc. seems to me to just be how different vendors/sellers might call something. As far as one number vs. another: one is the "small block" lifter and the other is for Big Blocks, but I swear I've used at least one HT2011 in a 440. The key thing is getting the oil band where you need it and whether or not you need to oil the pushrods ("AMC" lifters).

Those are in their catalog under big block, with no reasoning why.  I just like to have everything ready when I call a vendor so I can give them all the information they need to give me the correct parts.

I've a set of B-2011 for my 69 vintage 440. The chart calls for A-0976 so inquiring minds wanna know? I called the guy in the sticky to get these.

Absolutely, looks like A-0976 would be the right ones. But I would defer to the experts. I think the A-0812 is for the older pushrods that had a smaller radius on one end.

the 976s didn't worked on my 400 with the Crower HDP282 camshaft ( never got charged ) and had to use the 2011s. Maybe due the higher oil band coming out of the lifter bore? the camhsaft lift is not radical really but... :shruggy:

dunno about the rest of numbers
