The way I'm reading this, it appears to be a 500 with added Daytona parts?

There's not a lot of information...

Correct. Saw the car at Carlisle last year. Beautiful car, but it's neither a 500 or a Daytona at this point.
Probably would limit potential buyers.  Maybe someone who really wants a 500, takes off and sells all the Daytona parts.  Would still be a NOM 500 with a color change.  Would then be probably priced less than half the asking price IMO.

Saw a post about it on fb talking about the fender tag did not match the vin but did not see any proof either way

It is forever a 500 and will never be a Daytona. Clones have become acceptable to most and what better basis for one than a car with the back half already in place.  Personally, I'd remove and sell the Daytona pieces to cover the cost of putting the car back to correct.

Hadn't heard that. Can't recall if I compared the tag to the VIN. All I recall is that it was originally a green 500.
That would be a deal breaker if VINs and tags don't match.

cdr

The vin & tag are different, some early 500's were that way, XX vs XS

Oh if that is all that is meant by the tag being different than that's not a big deal. It's a clone at this point anyway.

A 500 cloned as a Daytona is better then any plain 318 Charger cloned as a Daytona for same price. :scratchchin:  :shruggy:

hell of a lot more accurate, for sure

Everyone is an expert on fb :)

Not sure what they were suggesting other than it did not match but maybe they did not know the XX XS thing could have been factory

So a 500 no orig motor orig green, an SE? No pics of the interior? Says manual trans,

So what is it worth? Restored 500 without orig engine and wrong color, are wing and nose metal? Do 500s have 70 fenders? Plus value of Daytona parts, is there a fender tag to verify?

No pic of fender tag or VIN

Guess at value if not a purist?

Thx

Car is very nice looking in pics and in person. I believe it's a Gregory nose cone on the car. The color change of exterior and interior, do make for a good looking combination. But if someone is wanting a 4 speed 500 in factory color combinations there is another one for sale currently.

triple_green

It has a SPD of 9/14, I assume that is 9/14/68 for 69 model year. Is there good documentation out there of the 500s having XS on the fender tag and XX on the VIN (done after the conversion?)

Back in the day there were a number of Charger 500's that had Daytona parts put on them. It was no big deal. There were a number of Daytona's that were totaled and donated parts.

As long as someone presents it as what it is I don't see it as a big deal now either. It has the right back window.

The whole Holier than Thou attitude, well some people need to have it.

I don't understand why someone would say "Take the parts off it and restore it as a 500." Seems like a losing money proposition all around.

I think you can disagree about the price.  Someone would have been better to buy the Big Willie car. Plus $ 185 large is a lot of money.

I hope a buyer has fun with it.

DustonK

I saw this car at Carlisle last year. It presents VERY well inside and out. Tags are all there, true 500, tags match up (the XX and XS thing is very known for 500's). Owned by Larry Charney when I saw the car, he brought her over to Dover Speedway and did some laps around it with Delaware Mopar Association. I parked our F8 Daytona clone beside it at the pre-show. https://imgur.com/a/nOS7M6c

That would depend on what one bought the car for. Not likely going to sell at $185K.

69_500

Yes there are several 500's that had nose and wings added back in the day, however this car received its nose and wing rather recently. Within the last 6-7 years

FB says it was sold, Does anyone know how much this went for

69_500

Car was sold, for lets say between $170-175k.

It now resides here in Indiana

Will I see it at a Culivers crise night?
