Looking for a source.  I see someone offers a complete scissor jack kit with the U-shaped bracket on the bag but I'm looking for just the bracket.
Thx.

This is probably one of the easiest wing car parts to make.

I scrounged through the scrap pile at work and found a piece of rectangular steel tubing the correct width and wall thickness and cut a chunk out of it.

Then I rounded off the corners, drilled a hole in it and painted it black.

Done.

2" X 4" X 3/16" thick steel.

One leg is 3/4" the other leg is 11/16"

The hole is 3/8" and centered.

So, you'll need to find a short piece of 4" square or rectangular steel tubing with a 3/16 (.187) wall thickness.

Or, you could bend one up from a piece of 2" wide 7 gauge steel, but that requires a pretty good sized press brake.

I used a band saw to cut mine, since I had access to one, but the tubing can be cut with an abrasive cut off wheel in a grinder.

Be sure to put a radius with a grinder or belt sander on all four corners as shown.

Is my part "correct" ? I have no idea, and I can't remember where I got the dimensions (probably from a member here - maybe Hemi Geno?) I don't know...

It's easy to make, it works, and it's almost free.

You're welcome !

I forgot to mention that the shorter leg end goes over the scissor jack crank handle, as seen in the first picture I posted. This keeps the hold down bracket from slicing into the rubber trunk mat when you crank the wing nut down tight. Again, Is this "correct"? I don't know...but it works. :2thumbs:

I copied down the dimensions and saved them for later also

Thanks for the idea
