Whatever happened to 14-inch tires?

I think I already know the answer here but how does one maintain the original 14-inch stock stance on a '68 R/T car without using the original (5 1/2-inch wide?) rims? I like Magnum 500s, but all I'm seeing is 15-inch stuff.

Just purchased a set of these for my 14"road wheels they are a nice tall tire to fill up the inner tubs 70R but available in most sizes they are reasonably cheap but are a Chinese tire after all

Chinese tires, eh? Well....maybe. I still need wider rims too.

For years I ran 4 15 inch stock 5th Avenue/Aspen rims with stock tires. It helped me set up my running gear mods/brake swap etc. 14's is a loosing battle.  :shruggy:

They have gone the same way as the non-Chinese whitewall. I actually had to go down a size in width to get on for my white hat special. And those were still made in Mexico. I guess that is what you call progress :shruggy:

225/70r14 tires haven't been common in my area since the 1990s.  It's a mail-order niche thing.  The local store might be willing to order it but they won't have it on the shelf.

I have a pickup with 15x6 rims.  Local stores don't always have tires for that on the shelf anymore.  Modern vehicles are mostly 17" and up.

I was considering running a set of 14" vectors on my car but decided against it due to tire selection. Seeing your thread I figured I'd take a look just for chuckles and it looks like there's a decent selection now. You'll need to order online but I haven't had an issue with that.

Well, thankyou for that Dano. More options than the last time I looked. I guess what I'd like to confirm is two things...1. does anybody made a decent 14-inch Magnum 500 clone (w/no trim rings) that isn't crap and then...2. is the aftermarket rim wide-enough to take a slightly wider tires (stock is only 5 1/2-inch)? L-60s on Crager's would easily fit these cars (w/air shocks, of course) back in the day. I guess I'd like to do this without needing the air shocks. Even something just a little bit wider than what's on the front would make me feel better (I think it would look more-familiar to me at least).  Those big wheel-wells with the more standard-sized tires look a bit strange to me.
