Any problems with Classic Industries console. Auto. Console shifter

Anyone having problems with the Classic Industries 1969-70 Auto.  Console shifter Assembly.
Can't get mine to into park anymore and very hard for others.
When I push the knob it doesn't push  the internals down enough. Knob is tight.

The button in the middle of the knob threads onto the the flex shaft that goes down the center of the handle 
Have you tried to lossen the knob off the handle and twist it a couple turns to make the button un thread some so it will push down deeper to release the catch at the bottom ??
