Looks like after a little over 20 years of ownership, I'll be putting my 68 up for sale.

One thing I'm worried about is letting someone else drive it until I'm signed off on the title.

Just wondering what others do in a similar situation: Let the perspective buyer test drive or test ride?

I took my prospective buyer for a test ride, and he seemed happy enough to do that.
It was only after he had paid a substantial deposit that he got to take it for a short drive around our area.
Gotta love a '69

What others do? Well, THIS guy ain't selling my Chargers no matter WHAT the values are!
To your point though....
If you have full coverage and the limits are high enough, there shouldn't be a problem letting a prospective buyer drive the car with you in it. I would not pay top dollar for a car that I was not allowed to drive first.
Good luck!

Thank you both for the input. I do have it insured thru Hagerty with an agreed upon value, so that should help alleviate some of the worries.

While I certainly do understand Kern's point of view, I'd be inclined to lean toward Doc4766's.  I knew a guy who was one of those "professional test pilots".  He'd blow smoke about being serious and laden with cash when all he wanted to do was get out and thrash cars he could never afford to own himself.  Surprisingly (or maybe not), he was a Ford guy.

That's what I'm worried about, someone thrashing and/or crashing. I guess I'll have to see how comfortable I am with the perspective buyer and go from there. I definitely will not allow a solo test drive.

I have never bought a Charger that was together enough to test drive it before hand so have no idea from that end

The last two Chargers that I sold the new owner did not drive it before I got the money
First one sold on ebay and went out of country

Last one the guy was happy to just see it run sitting in the shed and bought it on the spot for my asking price
I even drove it on the trailer for him and his first time behind the wheel was when he drove it off the trailer at his house

If anyone wants to buy a Charger from me they get to drive it after they own it
If they want a test ride I would take them for a spin
If that kills a sale I am never sad to keep owning a charger :)
