Have you ever found money that you forgot about?

Sometimes, the universe is on your side. Maybe it is when you put on some pants and find a crumpled twenty or balance your checkbook and find a few extra bucks.
Of course, it also works the other way too. Unexpected bills, disasters, the mother in law shows up unannounced, etc....
I read somewhere that one should slip some cash in their owners manuals in their daily drivers in case they are out, need gas and forget their wallet. This would also help if you got to a gas station that had a computer issue where their debit/ATM system is down. Cash saves the day there.
I'll bet that you've had those times where you earn some extra money and then some stuff happens that costs you the same or more money.
I once sold a parts car for $500 then popped a performance tire in my truck the next day, requiring me to buy a pair that cost about that same amount.
Some people keep money in their house, not just people that don't trust banks. If you keep the money in a special place and only that special place, finding lost money that you didn't know about probably never happens.
I got lucky today. The wife was looking for something in the cupboards and found an envelope with some cash in it that she put in there over 3 years ago. This was paying back some money she borrowed from the discretionary car fund envelope to buy a computer.
We both forgot about it. Now I have FREE money to spend on car stuff !
