Headlights switch and Dakota Digital RTX questions

My headlight switch is acting up. It works in first and second position in that parking lights and headlights turn on, but I have to gently move the switch a little up or down to get the dash lights to come on, without turning the lights back off. Looks like I need a new switch. Is the AMD switch the one to get?

I'm also considering getting the Dakota Digital RTX panel. I'm on the fence since my stock panel looks good, but the speedometer is always off, the tewnp gauge is way off, the Tanks Inc fuel sending unit is garbage, and one of the little bulbs is starting to come loose again. Next year the T56 is going in so maybe it's time to upgrade. Who here has the RTX? Happy with it? Does the stock rheostat switch still operate the interior light when installed?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I'm guessing you already checked this, but any time I've had issues with the dash lights its always been the cluster having a bad ground :shruggy: Ever since before I bought the car it never had all the screws holding the cluster in. Further more, my dimmer switch is broken so I have a jumper wire to power the dash lights

FWIW I do have the classic industries headlight switch and it LOOKS nice but haven't used it yet

Haven't used it either but was just looking at the thumb wheel.  Mine has been sensitive for the last 30 years but was constant so long as didn't move it.  Now every time it needs moved some.

Actually the dash lights dont come on until I rotate the thumb wheel.  Than they dont get very bright until just the spot after awhile.

Where would you look for a bad ground on the dash?
I've had issues with dash lights and tach not working of late. I wonder whether it could be related despite the other gauges operating as usual?
Gotta love a '69

The screws into the frame is what grounds the cluster. I think the tach is on its own circuit for the most part, so I'd think you would have the opposite problem or at least the tach would still work......
