Its a tough choice to leave it as its been for along time as Big Willie the Icons car.Or bring it back as another R4 red daytona. But the car still needs to have the body and rust issues attended to regardless of what direction its resto takes  I know the guy who was the Joe dirt daytona clone .Told him you could never restore this car to a restored street version daytona .To many people seen it in the movies magazines and shows. And will remembered it as its been shown to the public. This Big Willie car has that same following.Follows along the same line as the Ken Jennings hemi superbird the PHOENIX.Imagine seeing that redone in stock restored superbird form.Or the yellow jacket/Diamante challenger.Returned to stock form after its exposure all these years as we all know it.As tan top said they a piece of history

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Like Charger Punk and Tan Top, if I was wealthy I would buy it!

THE CHARGER PUNK

since there is no pics or proof ive ever heard of this duke and dutchess car other then it actually exists and big willy has raced it, i would restore it to look like the KING :icon_smile_big:

BigBlockSam

that car needs attention , i would restore it to how it was when big raced it  but are there enough pictures of the interior or engine compartment to do that . Rene

I think I would build a fake King Daytona, before making this one into it. All three of the Daytona's that Willie had are unique in their own way.  :yesnod:

Actually I would say the Pinion Snubber Area being blown completly out, knocked back down, Welded and reinforced is some PROOF that My Daytona Has been Raced, along with several people telling me they remember seeing the car get down with a Kieth Black Hemi and a Clutchflite in it around, 1974-76, The other two Daytonas were destroyed by April 1973, and I am Positive that a Basicly STOCK 440 with a Stock Converter will not cause the carnage that was impossed to my cars Pinion Snubber Area... I had a Stock suspension high 8 second 1/4 mile 62 Dodge and it never did anything near what has been done to the Daytona, those Clutchflites are violent...

If you look at the Big Willie Kill Sticker ad in some early Magazines, THAT IS MY CAR,  Willie is kneeled down beside, I have one in a Magazine as early as april 1972, the only thing that doesnt have any kind of proof is the FACT that the car NEVER had a Tow Hitch so I don't why Big Willie told MCG back in 1993 that he had a Yellow Daytona he used to tow with,  then they called the article Big Willies Tow vehicle FOUND.... I dont believe it, never have and Never will....  I have a Magazine from 1971 with Willie Beside his Ramp Truck, so it really wouldn't make any sence to tow the Queen Daytona with a Daytona.....

Im not ranting, just trying to clear up some info on my car

Yes I want alot for the car, and I dont want to sell it, it is just something I have to do, if it doesn't sell this time around it may never happen again, I set the reserve at 250,000 on Ebag and to me it is worth every penny, if not more.....

twilt

I`m not trying to be a smartass..... but what would a car like this typically sell for if it didnt have the so called historical significance?

Now the question arises, did the car really sell? I'm hoping the owner chimes in here.

Did it really sell or was it just bid up to $250K by a buddy? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

twilt

That information is quite obvious in the bid history. The buyer used the Buy it Now feature to purchase the car. I guess that will be disappointing for the paranoid folks that think every single auction on ebay has shill bidders.  :icon_smile_big:

hemigeno

I won't go into the reasons how/why I know this, but the buyer (donwan123) is a legitimate bidder.  This isn't a shill - and no, it's not me or anyone I know personally.

Glad to see that Gary French did alright on the car, and it will be interesting to see what the new owner does with it.

69_500

bid histories are sometimes elussive in their truth. However I'm glad to hear that it is a good and legit auction. Glad to see that he got what he wanted to out of the car.

Kind of puts another car we discussed as a bargain doesn't it Gene.

THE CHARGER PUNK

maybe the next owner restore it to its former glory, or maybe a king :icon_smile_big:

nascarxx29

looks like it did $250,00 And had some heavy hitters interested.Reggie Jackson would have bought it.Q: This is Jason from southern Bush Motorsports in Charleston S.C. I am the largest broker in North America for old muscle cars and the last of a dying breed that actually builds roads to pull these cars out of the woods and searches for stuff like you have here. I bow to you Sir. I don;t even know what too say, I thought nothing could surprise after me being in it this long. I have some knowledge of some of the rthis to therarest undocumetd cars in the world on file, but this one you have makes me look silly. Thanks for bringing to the surface. If it doesnt sell I have a clientell list of whales that I know will buy it. I know one thing, Reggie Jackson doesnt know it has been found, or he would have bought it already, he knew willie. Feel free to post this or call anytime. Sincerly respectful. Jason/. 1-843-425-2205

Yes, the car did sell to its new owner. I am pretty sure that he will leave the car just as it is!

That good news to here the car will kept in Big Willie form. There is no other Big Willies car out of the 3.But the one 440 car.Found this 1975 club recording showing the 2 hemi cars of Big Willies with vin and license plate numbers XX29J9B356523-Calif plate 419-ADR XX29J9B356525 Calif Plate 589-CKR.The single asterik at side of the 2 cars denote these 2 cars no longer in existence. That correspond with the remarks at bottom of the page
