Hmm, I wonder if you have to purchase it and then take on any possible body shop expenses incurred to date?

Just 6T9 CHGR

I noticed that as well......Im fairly certain that all 500's as well as Daytona's have the A11 code. :scratchchin:

Buuuuttt.....  Galen decoded it so it must be legit no? ;)

There seems to be a lot of wrong parts in the engine bay for a numbers matching car. Hopefully whoever changed them couldn't get the engine out.

i thought that strange also  no A11 code ,  i was thinking      may be because it is a early car with a XS  fender tag :shruggy:

it has what looks to be a bit of an A/C  hose  under the hood  to me  :-\

62 Max

It also has a 65 or earlier A/C thermostat housing.

The VIN tag shows XS...should be very early car, but the seq. number is much later than you would expect on a car with an early VIN. Me thinks there is some history here, along with the sad storey.

69_500

The car is legit. I can tell you that much. It is a 500. That is the same HEMI 500 that I mentioned in another thread as being for sale. Its a HEMI 500, even minus the A11. It is not the only 500 I have seen to be missing the A11 code. And it is also not the only 500 that I've seen to have XS on the Dash. There is actually another car later than this one with XS on the dash. Its funny but the other car is actually a December built car and it has XS on the DASH.

Have you guys ever seen this place he mentions? :   http://www.wingcarfab.com/

daytonalo

I love that picture of the plug missing , Ive never seen an orig car with that removed

69_500

Haven't visited the shop personally, but from everyone I talk to the work there is incredible. I believe that Doug might have seen some of his work.

The owner of this HEMI 500 said that the metal plugs are $2,500.00 BUCKS!  wow...

nascarxx29

I couldnt even look this car up in old wingcar 1979 records. It must have been a reclusive 1 owner car. That just came to the surface

70K for a project.  what's it gonna take to get that thing perfect?  another 100k?  50k?

hey wing guys, what is that car worth when finished?  are they getting the wing car numbers for those?
RECHRGED

Ghoste

The silver one that Joe Arrington customized, bid to 120,000 a month ago.  He has it up on another online site now where he is trying to get 300,000 for it so certainly some 500 owners are convinced they are worth wing car prices.  So far it seems the buyers have yet to be convinced.

PocketThunder

IMHO  Any Hemi Aero Car is worth 100k+ when finished.  A 440 C500 is worth the same as a R/T. :Twocents:

The silver car GHOSTE referered to was a local NJ Y4 gold car.I know another hemi charger 500 guy had it since the 80s .Car has all the right stuff. But the serial numbers dont fall in the known area. This one does though have a legit vin .But its a unknown car to old records

I guess i had this car in my mind when i was thinking about that **Inactive Link Removede**  but now that you put it into perspective, i would add 50% to the R/T.

69_500

I've known of this particular 500 for about 4 years now. I don't know when the clubs first knew about it. The A4 500 that Ghoste mentioned does fall into the lot of VIN's for a few other 500's. Its not a car to its loansome. It appears to be the first one in a batch, of about 25. 157xxx goes for 25 digits after that car.

69_500

Wow, your bidding on the car Rene? If you were really interested in it, I could have gotten you a deal on the car.

69_500

Is anyone still bidding on this car?

528daytona

Hey Guys, Do you think there is any suspicion about this car not being correct.

69_500

Not to me personally. Its a legit 500 if you ask me. #'s match. Yes it has XS on the dash VIN but there are more than 1 500 that came that way. As far as the XS on the fender tag, its common on all 500's before November 14th, which this car is.

So not really any questions on those factors to me.

528daytona

Thanks for the info, If I buy this car who could verify it all the way thru.

Ghoste

I'd put my faith in the guy who answered the last question, but that's a personal opinion.

69_500

Well I say its a true car, but my opinion is worth about as much as a pocket of lint.
Dave Patik says its a legit car.

I hate to say it but Galen has also verified the car.

Ghoste

Well, if someone has already paid to have the car blessed then it's settled.

528daytona

Why do you think it is only worth as much as a pocket of lint. Is it because of its current condition? Or is it Becuase you want Rene to get it? All Im asking is a few good opinions about the car.

Ghoste

He means his opinion is only worth that.  He's selling himself short but then again, my opinion is worth about a pocket of lint too so...  :icon_smile_big:

69_500

I was meaning my opinion is worth pocket lint.

To me the car is definately worth the asking price. If the car was restored to a show condition you would be seeing an asking price of around $175K to $225K. I've seen other HEMI 500's asking as much as $275,000 and $325,000. They didn't get those figures but were asking that much.

It would be a beautiful car done. Its by no means a 1 of 1 car or anything of that nature, but its a HEMI 500. Its a 4 speed. And its B5 blue. Which I wanted a B5 blue car, but got an R4 red one instead.

528daytona

Thanks I appreciate the info, If I win the bid on it, I will keep you guys informed on the progress of the resto. Im sure that I will be asking alot of questions during the process.

69_500

Are you the current high bidder?

I talk to the current owner of the car about once a week as it is now. I'd love to follow up to where this car ends up.

528daytona

No, Did not get this one. $115,100 winning bid.

I'm going to have to contact the seller again. I'm sure he is estatic. He wasn't hoping for anything near that amount.
