Jon, the car is coming along great!
It's interesting to see the different approaches that are possible with the FoMoCo sheet metal that are usually avoided with Mopars. For instance, most Mopar bodyguys avoid making a seam at a body/quarterpanel crease. To my untrained eye, it looks like you've intentionally put your patch line at that mid-panel crease. I suppose that's because the Talladega's crease is much more pronounced than the Charger's, and therefore easier to tool/shape back into the proper look? Pardon my ignorance on the subject...

My body guy has replaced that panel.I think it is actually a little above the body line.I agree with you on the placement of the patch.I am reday to see some color on it and start bolting stuff back on.

I was at my body guys place on sat 12-15 he says it should be presidential blue by the end of Jan.He is a super picky guy and usually end up working by himself.Everyone he interviews for a job just wants to cave and pave.He is a devout hammer and dolly guy.I took it to him in Jan 05.With the amount of metal replacement that he had to do as far as driillng out spotwelds from donor cars,I am very pleased with what has been accomplished. If I could have gotten more $$$ to him faster,I would have it back by now.I have no complaints.I will post more pics when it goes to color.

Am I missing something here? Why is a Ford on a Mopar site. And why is it with the aero cars?

The Torino Talladega is Ford's version of an aerodynamic package to make their cars faster at the track. The Mercury Cyclone Spoiler also falls into this category. The reason this is called the "Aero Cars" section is specifically NOT to exclude other cars. The description even says so: "A place to share the history and other information about all aero cars (including clones and other makes)." We did this on purpose because it's such a small segment and the competitors are the reason for the existence of Charger 500s and Daytonas. The members who are interested in one particular car also generally have an interest in that era of NASCAR. Superbirds are also Mopars but they aren't Chargers so where do you draw the line? There's plenty of room for all of these discussions. Troy

Once you get an Aero Car, you wouldn't mind owning the whole set.

If I understand the Aerocar history correctly and I have been wrong before (ask my wife). The C500 was first,Ford came back with the Talladega and the Spoiler II,Dodge came back wtith the Daytona and then The Superbird. As someone said earlier,I am a fan of all of the and would love to have an example of each.

Well I love reading about the talladega's as well, but call me biased but I actually like the Cyclone Spoiler II"s a little more than the Talladega's. Not sure why, but I really love their design.

428 CJ>351W. I like the 'cushier' Merc, too, but a white Talladega is so cool.
About the only thing I'd add to your aero car thinking is that the '68 Fords were a lot faster than the '68 Mopars.
OK also add that Petty drove a Ford in protest over not getting a Daytona, which prompted Plymouth to build the 'birds.

actually, Petty wanted the Charger 500, the Daytona wasn't out yet.

Welcome aboard! One interesting tidbit I read somewhere is that the front & rear bumpers on Talladega's are the same, the front is just V'd a bit more in the middle. I was watching some show and they had eithe a cyclone or a talledega with a very "superbird/daytona" looking nose on it. extremely limited production. the car was white if I remember right.
Sounds like the King Cobra. The front end reminds me of a Datsun 240Z. I think they only made 4 or 5 of these? ...and only one of these, if I recall? sorry but those have to be 2 of the ugliest cars ive ever seen
