More than likely , they will be complete functioning units , outside they will look stock , underneath not so stock , perfect for a clone car

If it's made from Kryptonite, don't buy it. You won't be able to use your "super powers" to make daytona parts.

I had a wing washer once. It was kinda like a fuzzy sponge with a handle on it. It was pretty cheap at Wal-Mart though...

Maybe that's not what they meant?

I do recall that place big block sam that sells clone daytonas for quite sometime. So thats were those ebay wings come from.http://www.hlpag.com

The wing washers are underside of the quarters on both the dodge and plymouth. They look like a battery tray. But are there to support the wing on top of the quarter

I'm going to use the fiberglass wing washers on my clones, but I'm also going to place a steel plate with the same curvature as the quarter panel between the wing washer and the quarter panel. Might not need it but then again, I'm covered.

i think you will need it with the solid aluminum wing . Rene

I think you're right. I know one thing's for sure. There's absolutely no way that a guy could make an aluminum wing like that for a superbird and put it on the quarters without some kind of strong reinforcement. Those roadrunner quarters are very flimsy. The quarters on my bird clone flex a little even with my lightweight steel skinned wing.

Larry, do you have any trunk hindges made up to sell? I'm trying to round the rest of whats needed now before spring to get started again.
Mark
Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

hotrod98

I had a shop build a set for me last week and I'm not happy with them. I 've found another shop that says that they can make them correctly. Should know something real soon. Daytonalo may be building them as well.

Been busy this week here at the dealership. I'll go over to the new shop next week. It's hard to find time when you're working eleven hours a day.

Heres the ones I made with a press and custom jig to keep tubing from crushing.Very slow process could only do a small section at a time, but it worked.

with hinges installed

hotrod98

Looks good to me. What thickness steel did you use? The originals were .115 wall for some reason. The set that I had made last week were around .076. I was hoping to be able to make them just like the originals, however the originals were crushed down to .750 width at the end that connects to the car.  I figure that's to accommodate the standard width ramp.
Here's a couple of pics of the hinge that I've rejected.

Thickness is the same. They have to be thinner at the body in order for the retaining clip to be used.

daytonalo

Anyone who needs trunk hinges , I'm making them tomorrow. They will have stop welded on and the pivot hole drilled , 150.00 a pair , let me know . I have the jig set only Thursday. These are bent with a square tube bender and they are pressed at the pivot as orig in order to install clip on pivot shaft . The stops are also properly installed . Will be in the shop all day on Thurs , call me if you want a set , Larry @609-315-2230

So Larry,  did you get any trunk hinges bent up? Or have you been pondering selling your doublewide to finance superbird rear window trim. Let me know

that company, halpag, outof illinois you speak of i drive by every day, its in lake villa and he has alot of junk he sells at extrmely high prices,if you drove by right now there is at leat 8 chargers painted like the general lee, he paints them in a very narrow garage right next to the lot, in the area around here they are known as the muscle car junk dealer. maybe you guys have had some experience with them that differs from what people tell me , but the guys i know that have sealt with them have never been happy, once in a great while they have something priced low enough that i could actually afford but not often and it would be junk aswell,i will try to get some pics of this place soon,i did hear they supplied the new dukes movie with some stunt cars though, but i have stopped by there at least a dozen times and never found any cars worth the value they put on them, recently they had and may still have a challenger or cuda with a six pack vin, however its a state replacement vin,if you guys are looking for charger projects and have money to throw away, theres your place

hemigeno

If you do a search on this site (especially in the General Discussion forum) you'll find a ton of opinions and bad experiences with hlpag.  You might also need to search for "Help Gag Me" and a few other appropriate variants on the acronymn.

Troy, the Administrator of the site, has some interesting reading from a while back when one of their salesman was trying to "defend" their establishment.  Quite entertaining.

At least you've seen their stuff for what it is, whereas a lot of people are dealing with them over the internet and buying parts cars at #2 condition show-car prices.

barnfindcuda

wow, i just went back and checked out a few threads about hlpag, some of the pics of the airborne guys car are disheartning, i feel bad for people that deal with them. i am going to definatly try to get some pics of their establishment so people dont get screwed, this has been going on for years and i am not sure why they are still open, how can you remain a legit dealer when you pull crap like that, iwonder if the states attorney general knows about these guys? someone should report them!

daytonalo

For doing what , Selling a car to an uneducated car guy !!!!!!!!!!! I will make it simple , if you spend money on anything that is outside your area of expertise or spend money without viewing it , and after you  realize you did not get a great deal . too bad !!!!!!!!!!!! Next time you will use an appraiser !!!!!!!!!!!!!

barnfindcuda

i agree with ya, only to a point though. i agree with the buyer beware theory, however, misrepresentation of a vehicle is just flat out wrong, i have seen the products they have represented on ebay, i am fortunate i could drive over to them and look at the vehicle, they just flat out lie and misrepresent  their cars, most all they have is high priced junk, there are a few vehicles i have seen there that arent bad, but they arent worth near the money they ask, i mean sometimes 3-4 times the vehicles value, if they get it , more power to them. but, these are the kind of guys that give our hobby a bad name,
dont take this in a personal manner but if you could stand in their lot and ask them what they need for any car they have, you would leave laughing and disapointed there are people like that , and in the back of your mind you would feel at least a little sorry for the people buying this misrepresented junk they are buying on good faith, unless of course you know these guys and condone what they are doing!  i hear what your saying but, i also hate to hear about anyone who has had their had earned cash talken from them because someone isnt honest, now i understand your selling some parts to people from this site and you sound like an upstanding person, even when your talking about someone elses product that doesnt fit quite right , you have a positive spin on it, if you started selling parts here and they were just junk, would that be right?, after you tell people that it fts great! i dont think so, these guys in lake villa inllinois are just guys taking complete advantage of the internet,(selling things site unseen) if they were stand up guys we wouldnt be having this conversation , but they are not. they have sold alot of cars in this area over the years and the people i have talked to that have dealt with them have all had the same story, however ,i ask those people this, if you looked at the car and didnt like the deal ya struck, why di ya buy it? those are the uneducated people you speakof. as i said earlier , i agree with you to a point but again, these guys are just plain crooks

daytonalo

I hope they learned a lesson , Its a cruel world out there !!!!!!!!!!!! They were too cheap to hire an inspector !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wingcar builder

check out this Daytona they have, it sounds like the salesman describing it is the guy that does the late night infomercials on how to become a millionaire! or the oxi-clean guy! LOL!

i looked at a few of those cars, they are way over priced slapped together cars, cant tell in the pics, the red cuda has the bumpers painded rubber and all,i looked at the newport convert before they bought it, it was 2500, now it $5000, didnt do anything to it, its a decent start for a car but not for $5000, the daytonea must be at a different location, dont recognize it, my advise to all out there, look at anything these guys sell first, not in pics, in person or get someone you trust to look at it! and i am not sure but i think they but the orange for the daytonas in 55 gallon drums! lol. enough on this guys, this is a thread about daytonalo's hinges, lets stop hijacking it! lol, everyone here is great and i really hope to build a daytona clone someday, i'll need all you guys!
