that white charger was quickly made to look like a daytona for a press photo shoot .  it did not have a rear window plug & the nose cone didn't have head light doors , they were just taped to look like for the photos . also there was  modeling clay used on the bottom of the front fenders to nose cone ,  the wing car guys will know more on this than i do  :yesnod:

I'll tell you this much, I passed on the same kit this weekend for $150.

I thought that was too much. If this one sells for $950, then I'll call that guy back up and offer it up on ebay for $175.

Even though I don't have that particular stuff yet, I don't see myself dropping the $150 for it anytime soon. Maybe in a couple of years.

how difficult to get hold of   is this  particular dealer package , as i am not familiar with this stuff   being still available ..

Danny, sure wish I'd have known you came across that press kit for $150.  I'd have jumped all over that.  If you know who it is, see if they still have it and want to sell.  I can give you the cash on Saturday if you need - and tell the seller I promise I won't put it on eBay!  While I already have an original of the "dayglo" placard, I don't have a hard copy of those press photos or an original of the April dealer announcement either.

Hard to say what this auction's reserve price is.  With such a high B-I-N price, the chances of there being a "reasonable" reserve are pretty low.  Wonder if the seller is just fishing for a market price so he can negotiate with the seller after the auction ends?  See that a lot on car auctions, why not on memorabilia too...   :rotz:

I don't have my Talladega '69 race program in front of me, but is that the same picture or real similar to the one used in the Bill Strange Dodge advertisement?  That's definitely the press release Daytona though - no doubt.

I have that postcard .They came out of vending machines Ive heard .And there is another daytona packet called the men who raced daytona.I think thats where all the black and white pictures came from

Gene I'll call the owner here tonight and see if he still has it. He was walking around at the swap meet on Saturday and asked me if I'd be interested in it. I said I was, but wasn't willing to pay that for it then. The Dayglo he had was framed and in really good shape too.

I'll let ya know if he still has it.

Gene, I called the seller last night and he sold the packet at the meet. However he did say that he had another of the Dayglo's though if interested. He doesn't have another packet though. Call me stupid, I guess I should have taken it this weekend huh.

Well, thanks for checking with him anyway.  Only $800 more and I could just have bought the one on eBay!

no ..........i agree  thats  is way too much  :rotz: , but i think as this stuff gets harder to come by  sellers will  try to cash in on this  stuff   targeting  wing car enthusiasts , much the same as on ebay with Hemi ::) e-body parts.

Some of this kind of wing memorabilia is on websites and .And more than one set was published .Then there are these unique pieces.I had a Frank wylie correspondance as to the daytona name being used for the 1967 dart.Which I made available to the wingcar community.

Hi Dave!

The Dart/Daytona paperwork came in Friday's mail. THANKS a million for sharing it with me! This is an awesome document! Do you care if I put it in an upcoming newsletter?

Sue
Hi Dave:

That was a wonderfully interesting story about Mr. McGill getting the Vin numbers from the race tracks for Chrysler! Do you care if I use this little blurb in the October newsletter?

If you do get an interview with this fascinating man please write up a story about it for the newsletter. The members will really enjoy that kind of info!

Thanks!

Sue

I'm of the mind that all of us here are dedicated Charger enthusiasts.
"Kindred spirits" per-se.
Which is why I have absolutely no problem scanning and posting practically anything that a fellow Charger enthusiast would ask for.
And I'm glad to say I've been the recipient of the generosity of other members on this site.

Share the wealth people!! ;)

I've got no problem sharing anything I have. Then again my information collection is dwarfed by Dave's and Gene's that is for sure.

I will say this though, both of them have been very easy about getting information from. Both offer up any information readily, and are more than happy to answer any questions.
