Found these on Cotton Owens site. Cotton Owens had alot to do with Mopars and racing. Apperentley, his shop burned down either today or a few days ago. Hope no Daytonas or anything were in it.

Rich B. (a friend of mine) spoke with Dottie Owens (Cotton's wife) this afternoon and they're all OK.  The building that burned was not his main garage building and thankfully no one was hurt.  Rich will be visiting with Cotton next week at the WW/NBOA meet in Charlotte so he'll tell me the full story when he gets back.

Those are some cool pictures, and probably some that Cotton would like to forget.  Doug S. probably knows the details better than I, but I seem to remember that Buddy was leading that race when his oil line burst causing both the flames and the spinout.

So would this be the same 999 paint code car that Tim has now? Or the elussive second one that others have talked about?

This would be the elusive second one since Tim's car has black interior and the one talked about in the eBay ad has tan.  That jives with the partial information I had logged for the second 99 (a/k/a 999) painted car.  Dave, you're right - they were both supposedly sold from Lenox Dodge in Atlanta, GA.

Gene, is 434780 the car we talked about as the second reported orange car?

What a coincedence they both orginated from Lenox dodge in GA and not just another GA dealership.Another GA wingcar historyIm still trying to collaberate is a superbird. With 5000 miles on it B5 blue .A local area guy from my old neighborhood bought in Albany Ga in 1972 while in the navy.Still has.He tells me there was a race team called the knight or night brothers from GA.And his car came from them .With light fire damage to the vinyl roof.It was outside due to a garage fire. And the car was sitting outside.I have to look in my archives look but memories serves me its 179796

Yup, that's the one.

Hey Gene side note here. I was talking to some people who said they knew where the second 999 paint code Daytona was. And that they were working on a deal to purchase the car. They were asking me if I knew anything about it, which all I had ever heard was that there was supposedly 2 of them. Having never seen either one with my own eyes, only photo's I wasn't much help to them.

I've heard the whereabouts of the second 999 car as well, and that it is being worked on/restored.  Somene else had told me that at least one person was trying to buy it, however I was not sure if that was just wishful thinking on their part or not.

The car is legit from what I've heard, although I'm in the same boat as you (haven't seen it in person yet).

:scratchchin: Well it was someone who already has winged cars.   :popcrn:
