Thanks Jackie!  I hope to have it sent off to the paint shop in 2-3 weeks.  I will try to get the car ready for the paint shop owner to have a look at it in my shop by this coming weekend.  If all goes well, they would pick it up soon afterward... :2thumbs:

The original color of my Daytona was R4 Red, but it was repainted some GM color in the 1970s...

You can see a little red peeking out near the end of the bumper in the picture that you posted, and the R4 is even more visible on the "A" pillar in picture 0085 that I posted above (I removed the "A" pillar mouldings when I had the car in a public storage).

No, its not an SE.  The broadcast sheet that I found in the car was for a T5 colored Hemi Charger 500... :o

Yes Al, your chances are better of that being the case due to the blue interior.  With my black interior, the mix-up was probably more messy... many of the cars had black interiors.  I picture a ceiling high stack of black seats to pick from for any given car ready for them!  :P

  Another thing that helps is there  are only  14 or so SE 500s.  There is a B5 SE in Canada but it has a much later production number than mine. I would guess there more black interior Chargers than any other color so I see how you got a sheet for a bronze car.

Hope that you do get it done so that I can see it some day though. It was great hanging out with ya the other weekend. You definately have some nice rides, as we all know that I wish I had a daytona even if it was a battle horse as you described yours.

I am trying a completely different approach than I have used before... I plan to be a "Project Engineer" of sorts.  We will see how it works out, I am starting by compiling a list of sub-contractors (like Performance Car Graphics, SMS Restorations, HARMS Automotive, Etc.) to do components like the instrument cluster, steering column, AVS carb, Etc.  I will be asking for recommendations after the C500 is sent off to the paint shop.

Yea, I talk a little bad about the Daytona sometimes... kinda like I used to joke about my weight when I was a lot heavier than now.  It seems to prevent someone from showing their grasp of the obvious with "WOW, did ya know its going to take a lot of work to restore that car?..."  ::)  But, it is a real Daytona, and I plan to clean it up a bit after the C500 leaves.  Actually, I plan to clean all my cars up a bit in the next 6 months or so as time & space permit.

I really enjoyed meeting you, Gene, and all the other great aero car fans at MMW!!!  Had a blast!  Thanks again for the ride on the track!  :cheers:

Don't worry about my C500 having a complex for me wanting to swap it for something else. I think it knew that the day that I picked it up. It is well aware that if someone wanted to swap a project Daytona for it, then it would be heading out of the garage faster than you could say "See ya"

What did you mean by "when my C500 leaves?" You just talking about it going out to be repaired right, not as in leaving to someone else? YOu gotta hang on to these cars, you've had them too long to part with any of them now.

What's up with the 68 318 Charger that you are going to put on the trailer?  It just seems a little out of place compared to the rest of the collection. I have one that I just don't know how I feel about it.

I probably could have worded that better, but I just was referring to when the C500 goes to the paint shop...  I have had a lot of chances to sell or trade the car off, including four recent/current contacts about the car.  I have tried to explain to each of them that although I am not sentimentally attached to the car, it is the easiest to restore of my Aero Cars.  That is the main reason it is going to the paint shop instead of my Daytona, I hope to have it on the road much faster than I have ever been able to do a restoration before... we will see how it works out!  :P

Sadly, I cannot see myself hanging onto all the cars... it is just too many projects to handle.   Right now I have plans to sell the 1973 Charger SE 440 car, 1968 Polara 2Dr HT 383 HP car, and two E-Bodies.  The Charger & Polara are essentially ready to go, but the E-Bodies will take some time to gather the parts and do more assembly...  At some point the decisions will get much tougher, but some other cars will have to go too...

Although I originally bought the 318 Charger as a parts car, I drove it quite a bit in the mid to late 80s.  Lately I have considered it more of a hot rod project, maybe Bullitt's evil twin... :D  I have also thought I might just fix it up as a neat driver, leaving the 318 right where its at.  It's future is pretty much up in the air...

The 318 Charger is a better fit than some of my cars, like the 1968 Polara 4Dr HT that I moved to my house garage (see the beginning of this thread).  My tastes in Mopars is a bit eclectic... maybe even a bit strange to some!  :lol:

Or at least that is the only one's that I'd hold on to if I was you. Then again, I'm not an E body fan at all, and well okay I'll admit it I'm really only a fan of 2 cars the Daytona first and the C500's.

Worked in the shop all weekend (when I wasn't mowing, shopping, or running other errands).  Did not get everything done that I planned to, but I did make progress...

First of all I put the Daytona on roller skates (car dollies)... they don't roll as easy as I had hoped.

Next I pivoted the Superbird out of the way to create a path to extract the 318 Charger.

Then I pivoted the 318 Charger so that it could roll through the gap between Bullitt & the Superbird.

As I mentioned earlier, I had other tasks like mowing 2 acres  :eek2: and running errands.  I also made it by Harbour Freight to pick up some useful items for the upcoming restoration and shop re-organization.  Among the items was a blasting cabinet & parts washer.  For a place with cheap prices, I sure spent a lot of $$$ there...  :P
