Freddy's brother?  Was the dealership in Elm Street? :D

:eek2:  I had only talked to three people about the dealership since getting the news two days ago, and two of the three had similar comments...

I received a call today from Scott Smith to let me know that the restoration of the 1969 model 4 Speed variant Carter 4617S AVS had been completed and that the function testing was successfully completed on their test engine... it's ready to ship as soon as I send payment.

Later I received the attached before & after pictures of the carburetor... a professionally handled easy transaction.

Thanks Scott!

Not much new to report, mainly that work is proceeding on sub-assemblies & components.

I did catch a lucky break for a change though... I received a call about 6 PM yesterday evening from a friend who said that he was driving up to northern Arkansas to buy a motorcycle.  He sad he would be going right by where the C500 was in work, and offered to carry up some parts.  He came over last night and we loaded up a couple of storage totes of new & used parts, plus the original seats & other loose items... THANKS BILL!

Time for an update on Blue Thunder...

Most of the progress in the last month was with the various sub-components like the engine, transmission, and Dana rear axle.  There were a few unexpected snags with parts needed for the engine and transmission.  Turns out that the oil pick-up tube needed for the baffled "402" oil plan has been on back-order for about a year, as has the input shaft bearing retainer more recently.  A new oil pick-up tube was found in stock at a vendor, and the last input shaft bearing retainer shown in Chrysler's parts system was located at a dealership in another state.

Among other needed items received or on order were a power steering sector, drum power brake set-up for conversion, C500 tail stripe (black), and the remainder of the large order from Dante's.  The suspension components have been powder coated, and the next goal is to assemble the suspension & drive train components followed by lowering the body over them to get Blue Thunder back on "all fours".

Another milestone was achieved yesterday when the taillight panel was painted with the correct original Organosol Black lacquer paint.  The Organosol was applied in multiple coats after a base coat of regular black paint.  The correct paint texture was achieved, and the metal-flake in the Organosol can be easily seen.

Ten pics to post showing the process, here are the first four:

Hi everyone...  Thanks for the bump Stuart!  Sorry I have not been around much lately, but I have been very busy with some important matters.  Also, a new wiring/lighting project is well underway on my "Dodge Mahal" workshop, and things are starting to fall in place.

On the C500, I do not have any news.  After I finish my tax return, I will call Ken for an update...

Finally, I have started discussions with someone that could lead to a multi-car transaction... leaving me with fewer cars, but they would be turn-key.  Way to early to know if a deal can be worked out tho...

Allen,
If you think the Organosol is difficult to photograph, wait till you try to keep it clean! I applaud you for doing this detail correctly! I love the B5 blue also! Keep the pictures coming we all enjoy them.

I always thought of spraying a clear satin or appropriate gloss% over the textured paint. I would think it would maintain the "flatness" of the organsol and actually make it easier to clean.

Hey Troy...  There are no Aero Cars as part of the potential multi-car "trade"... actually, it would be more of a sale/resto transaction.  I will know more in a couple of weeks after the other party visits to look at some of my cars...  I hope there isn't a licensing fee for using the "TroyTrade" method...
