Its car #26 sold to Crestview limited  Regina Saskatch. Aside from the old school daytona letters it has a 70 am radio and faceplate.69 had thumbwheel also appears to have a rear defogger .And some incorrectness under the hood.other than that appears to be a decent car

Guys, just a suggestion here -- When doing a link to an eBay auction, let's try and post a few of the pictures from the auction on the site.  Especially if Larry is showing us his...  *ahem*  ...intuitive knowledge of all things pertaining to how every Daytona should be.  The reason for that is because while the eBay link is active, everyone can look at the pictures.  However, those links and pictures are not there forever.  I end up deleting lots of dead links (yes, Troy, I am still working on that).  If you dowload the picture and then post it here, then the picture stays even after the eBay links are dead.  It's much better reference material for everyone that way.

That being said, it's a pretty nice car all the way around, and it's one of the more thorough picture sets I've seen in an auction.  Just a few interesting things about the car I noticed on a quick look-see:

The VIN decal is horizontal - hadn't seen that before, most I've seen are vertically-mounted
There is a rear defroster - of note for the guys keeping score on the Canadian cars
It's a radio-delete car, which explains the 70+ knobbed installation

daytonalo

Gene , I just know most people lose their sight post 40 , and most are post 50 around here , that said , i just point out things that you guys cant see !!!!!! One more thing , if you cant get your rear moulding to stay down , drill it and install screw!!!! Did anybody else pick that up ????

Larry

i seen it. some jerk did that to mine before i bought it on both sides, evidently they didnt know how to clip in to stay so they pop riveted mine :icon_smile_blackeye:

The stripe was the most obvious thing !!!!!  But, thanks for pointing it out....  :icon_smile_big:

Not all these cars have belonged to talented restorers in the past.. People did what they could do... At least he created the hole for the screw on the moulding that's readily available and not the "rare" peice.. So,, some credit there should be paid........  It was done nearly 20 years ago, according to the narrative...

Here's my two cents worth. I like the car, soon as I started browsing the photos, when I got to the white int. part of it, thats when I wish I had the cash to buy it now. I quit restoring cars to customer wanting factory spec's like the day they left the factory. It was just ridiculous. I was losing money doing resto jobs like I was. Now, I do custom work. I paint cars the color they came from factory, but thats it. I will now say I miss my charger daytona clone I was building. I called the guy back who I sold it too, recently and he said hes making it into a DOH car with the 500 rear window. I told him he sucks ass and hung the phone up after that.

I have to say that this car does not look right.  What is up with the skinny whitewalls?

There were more than a few cars with 14" wheels that came with Sales Code T82 F70x14 white stripe tires in lieu of the more common T83 redstripes.  Same tire, same size stripe just white instead of red.  I dunno if the car has it's broadcast sheet or if they have vintage pictures of the car wearing white stripe tires or not.  That's about the only way to tell for certain what it came with originally.

:shruggy:

nascarxx29

My car was coded for T82 and had those skinny whitelines .I dug some of my archive pictures of it supplied to me by the original owner.I think they were BF Goodrich Silver Streaks. The cover car on the magazine shows redlines.Which were also available

69_500

I prefer the redline tires personally, but like Gene said, without the broadcast sheet there is no way to say one way or the other. Not sure if its missing its sheet, just making obsevation.

I still think it would look good parked next to my 500.

daytonalo

Come on guy's , these cars were born to go racing , they were never a grandmom car !!!!! Steam roller look all the way 275-60-15 all the way around on 15x7 Magnums ! The best look by far . Well those cute hubcaps on the red car are so fine

70charger_boy

The tires on my airplane are better looking than those things on the Daytona

isn't that julius' old car?

also, if you want the real old school look, you need a set of L60-14's mounted on slots.

hemigeno

Dave, never noticed before in the pictures of your car - there's no VIN label on the door edge.  I've always heard that some Daytonas got the label and some didn't, but it'd be hard for anyone to argue with a "day two" picture.

I have a set of 15" magnums with 255/60s all the way around for the R/T, and they are my preferred setup - not necessarily for how they look, but because of the handling.  At least I can easily stay in my own lane with those tires/wheels.  I call them the car's "Tennis Shoes", and the steelies/redlines I call "Dress Shoes".  I honestly do like the look of the OE setups, probably because I'm much more of a numbers guy.  However, those bias-ply tires are ill-handling on their best day.

I agree on the redlines not being very "comfortable" when cruising down the interstate, to use the "tennis shoes" frame of mind. But they do just look so darn cool.

nascarxx29

Hemi Geno not only was the daytona missing the door decal it was missing seat buttons on the rear seat only on one side. The 2 holes and rad support vacuum hose plastic retainer. The vin was there and in the right spot..Had some other quality control control issues.Due to creative conversion work details .And being a 606 Fri built car probably also contributed. The original owner took it back first or second week because the paint was flaking on the rear window plug area
