Help loading my avitar

I have been trying to load my avitar.  It will not come up picture is small 240 x 178.  The sight will not change to my avitar.  Please help

Avatars are limited to 200 pixels wide - yours is 240. You can add larger pictures into the signature at the bottom of your posts (instead of the side).
