OK, Now that I have decided to go with the original color of my 69 Charge (A4 Silver metallic) when I build my Daytona clone, I can only find one photo with the Daytona in this color with a red wing. Does anyone out there have any others?  :shruggy: :shruggy:

That's Bob Malcolm's car.  He bought it in around '96-97 from the Volo Museum north of Chicago.

Here's a couple of small pics of cars that look like A4 silver cars. Hard to tell. Just not with red wings though.

those are both A4 cars, just not the one with red interior, and a red tail stripe.

dillon what was your cars interior color?  red?  :drool5:

This is what I can read from the photo:

   H   High

X9   Black Upper Door Frame Paint

I dunno where the H2X came from, but it's not found on a '69 Charger anyway...  Here's what my guess is as to what your Fender Tag says.  See if you can scrape some of the gunk off and/or look at the backside of the tag to see if this is right:

R21  26 END
G33 H51 J25 L31 M21 M31
A01 A04 B51 C16 C55 G11
A4 A4 C6X X9 830 XXXXXX
E44 D31 XP29 F9B XXXXXX

If that is right (and I'm somewhat sure the codes are right) then your car's tag decodes as follows:

E44 - 318 2bbl engine
D31 - 904 3-speed automatic transmission
XP29 - Base Charger Model
F - 318 2bbl engine
9 - 1969 Model Year
B - Hamtramck Assembly Plant
xxxxxx - VIN sequence number (I wasn't concerned too much with this)
A4 - Roof Color
A4 - Body Color
C6x - Charger Trim Grade - Vinyl Buckets - Black
X9 - Upper Door Frame paint color - Black
830 - Schedule Production Date - August 30, 1968
xxxxxx - Special Order Number - again, I wasn't concerned with what this number is
A01 - Light Package - (Ashtray, Glove Box, Trunk, Ignition, and Map lights, plus headlamp on buzzer)
A04 - Radio Group - (Radio, Power Steering, Power Brakes, 3-speed wipers, W15 wheel covers, LH Remote mirror)
B51 - Power Brakes (part of A04 package)
C16 - Console
C55 - Bucket seats (standard on '69 Charger)
G11 - Tinted Glass - all (recommended with A/C)
G33 - Left-hand Outside Remote Mirror (part of A04 package)
H51 - Air Conditioning w/ heater
J25 - 3-speed wipers (part of A04 package)
L31 - Hood-mounted turn signals (not sure if this is part of the Light Group or not)
M21 - Driprail moulding
M31 - Body belt moulding
R21 - AM/FM Radio (I think that's what your tag reads)
26 - 26" radiator
END - Duh...

Let me know if I've listed any of the codes incorrectly and we can adjust the decode accordingly.

I actually will not have the car until sometime this week. When I get it, I will clean the body tag up and repost a better photo.

Geno,

Man, your eyes are a lot better than mine.

My eyes really aren't that good, but I have seen enough fender tags to know what SHOULD be in certain places.  That, and knowing the general order & progression of the Sales Codes sure helps when figuring these things out.

I'll be interested to see if you can confirm what the tag reads.

:popcrn:

I did some work on the photo of the fender tag in photoshop, and from what I'm looking at, I think that Geno nailed it. At first I wasn't too sure on the whole A04 option, but it has to be that one, because its too far to the right to just be A01.

I remember seeing A4 silver daytona for sale by a Tom Conner in IL in a newsletter.Bob M refurbished that car nicely. When I first saw that car at a show it needed some work in areas

The top one is here in the Houston area.. Last I heard he was tearing it down and starting to put her back. Believe it is a V2 car....

V2 origionally, and origionally sold from Ohio i believe troy.

The second one pictured I think is Wayne Perkins car, if its not that one then its Joanne's car. hard to tell who's is who's without seeing the passenger side of the cars.
