Those jacks can be bought for under 50 bucks , they are much thinner and slightly smaller than orig one's

I wouldn't mind buying a couple of those for $50 each. After all, my cars are just clones and I'll bet you money that it never leaves the trunk again. I put the jack assembly in the trunk of my 71 cuda 8 years ago and it hasn't been out since.

this isnt the type of jack you are thinking of . this is much older , i think it my be a ford jack , this is a sturdy well built jack the steel is 1/8" . the one i think you are talking about is this jack .

I had a few of those jacks years ago and threw them away. Wish I had them back now. I would just make the mods that Larry mentioned and live with it.

You can buy that Jack all day long !!! I ordered one a while back , after it came in , i said no way , it was paper thin . I have 50 1969 Scissor jacks that were made by the same  co that made the Daytona jack . I modify them to look like daytona jack

LARRY , what mods do you have to make to those original jacks ? just the "  top locator pin  " ? what company made the jack for the DAYTONA & SUPERBIRD ? from what i understand it was a modified ford scissor jack . or is that wrong ?

This is the scissor jack in the original box, with the front license plate mounting bracket sitting on the box. This is the correct all-red Daytona front jack. The color is basic "red", not orange-red or black. Superbird front jacks are black. Note that the jack screw, bearing, handle receptacle, are NOT red. The jack was fully assembled when painted, minus those parts.  The Daytona scissor jack was known to be made at Custer Manufacturing Company. This is known from factory paperwork and blueprints, not found with this car.

This one is typical of what you can find at a flea market for a few bucks .Lacking in certain details And you could maybe take this existing jack and taper the end shaft weld on top locator pin and cut out the feet and drill the hole for the cotter pin limiter and add the collar bearing.

my jack and handle I made

more junk

rav440

so how can one really tell if they have an original DAYTONA & SUPERBIRD jack ?  :shruggy: kinda makes me wonder if the ones that have sold on EBAY lately were really real original jacks or just well made copies made to look like they were aged . being there are no part or ID #s stamped on them , makes me think a dishonnest person " we all know there are none of them on EBAY "  :smilielol:  could turn a $50.00 jack into a $3000.00 with a few hrs of work .

i guess though if your spending that kind of $$$ on a jack you damn sure better know what you looking at .  :shruggy:

My jacks are brand new late 60's vintage nos jacks , I made the handle

nascarxx29

If custer manafacturing who supplied them to chrysler as a vendor .And you located the company and bought left overs 60-s vintage NOS ones.Wouldnt you have memos or correspondances as documentation from the original company and supplier on this transaction to accompany your jacks .Showing this is as close as you can get to a original. From jacks recieved from the original vendor for modification. That should only require a welded on location pin and color to paint it.And have all known correct original jack details

custer made Jacks for many co 's , not just for  mopar Cupcake ! I bought them a while back from an auction . Paper work on Jacks bought from auction , not in this lifetime .

nascarxx29

So how do you prove they are of 60-s vintage.Going by second hand seller auction info. And wouldnt the ones from custer to Chrysler and one from custer original stock found as you claim .In later years just be lacking in small details.Wouldnt the rest of the jack already have the rest of the correct known details. And not require a rework. The known details are

Fine threads cotter pin limiter. End of shaft comes to a tapered point..The collar length and bearing is unique compared to  repos .Also the rivet heads differer. The scissor the rounded ends .The original locator pin was welded from the top.

I'll go slow with you , each client has different specifactions they ask the vendor incorporate in the product they buy . A company to be profitable , will cross market a product with slight alterations to satisfy their client. If you want I can draw stick figures , if it will help you

nascarxx29

If you need to know what the original scissors jack details are http://wwnboa.org/daytdetails.htm people will ask

How much are you selling them for?  I might be interested.

Are you making any other parts yet?  I already have a set of your A-pillar mouldings, trunk hinges and wing washers.  I just found a vega hatch and I'll be starting work soon.
