Dumb Whirly Jig question...

As some of you may know, I bought a '68 Charger about a year and a half ago, but I know absolutely nothing about cars. The most I'd ever done before I got the charger was change the oil on my camaro like 18 years ago.

So all this is very new to me. I did manage to completely dismantle the car and it's not nothing but a shell. Next step is getting it on the whirly jig.

Here's the problem, the "instructions" they sent look like they were printed out using a 40 year old printer. Plus, they mention parts that I don't even know what they are.

There's a video included (by the way Whirly jig people, this is the 21st century... DVD's PEOPLE! I had to buy a freakin' VCR cuz they sent me a tape, not a DVD). Anyway, the video quality is so crappy I keep expecting to see Big Foot walking around in the background.

My main problems is figuring how exactly how the brackets connect to the car (front and back) and exactly where. And apparantly I have to drill my own holes through the brackets. That ought to be fun. I'm sure I'll screw that up a few times, having to order overpriced replacements over and over again.

Anyway, basically does anyone have some good quality pics of their whirly jig and maybe some closeups of the parts I have to drill, where I have to drill them, how to connect it, etc... pretty much everything.

I'm about ready to take the car to get media blasted (no dippers in Texas that I know of) but I have/want to get it up on the WJ first to remove all the undercoating, and really just to get it on there and get used to it so I feel comfortable getting it on there and moving it around.

I know this is like really easy for y'all, but remember... I know almost nothing about cars. All I know is what I've ready over the last year or so, but I'm more of a "see how it's done" type a guy then a "Read how it's done" type of guy so even with all the reading this stuff isn't sinking in.

What's a whirly jig? :eek2:    Don't mean to smile in your time of need, but the "had to buy a tape machine, and BIg foot comment made me laugh.   How about a picture of the parts so we can get an idea. :icon_smile_big:   And don't be so hard on yourself.  At least you know how to change your oil.  When we asked my younger brother to add a quart of oil in the car before we went out, many years ago, it took him about 20 Min's.  We went out to check on him, and he was hunched over the fender dribbling a small stream of oil into the dip stick tube hole.   And today he's a cop, go figure. :icon_smile_big:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

A WhirlyJig is a rotisserie.

The mounts usually attach to the bumper holes. Since not all cars are the same (and rotisseries are generic) you need to drill holes in the mounts to match the ones in the car. The rear is the easiest but the front bolts are on the sides so you'll need some sort of arm or adapter. I know there's pictures around here somewhere...

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Thanks, Fellas.

I promise I'm not completely useless at everything.

For instance, I'm an excellent dog walker. I mean I kick BUTT at dog walking.

Seriously, thanks again. My main concern is I just don't want to screw something up and ruin something (on the car or the jig) that would cost a crap load of money to replace.

Nice work so far - funny captions/pictures on your web page.  I don't have a whirlyjig, but my 70 is on a rotisserie currently.  Pics of your parts would be great.  Where are you located in Texas?  Anywhere near Dallas?

I wish I was closer to Dallas. I'm way down south in Laredo, right on the border.

I've got all my parts stored in a shed I built. Taking pics of all of them is a good idea though. I plan on getting the car on the jig tomorrow, or at least prepping it for the jig. Maybe sunday or monday I'll get in the shed and take some pics.
