Hey guys, I have a question. Did any Daytonas ever come in B5 Blue with white interior and a black wing and stripe? :popcrn:

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

69bronzeT5

Its not the colour thats making me wonder...its if any B5's had white interior with a black wing and stripe..that seems like an odd colour combo to me

The problem with that question is the difficulty in saying (with any degree of certainty) what the original stripe/wing color was.  The body & interior color are listed on the B-cast & Fender Tag, but the Daytona's stripe color is not defined.  You'd have to have some Day1 pictures of the car to "prove" what it had, and there's still the chance that it was changed by the dealership.

My guess is - and it's only a guess - is that very few odd color combinations were chosen, whether by Chrysler/Creative or the ordering dealership.  I think "as a rule", a white interior car would have been given a white stripe.  There is at least one exception I've seen, which is an F6 car, white interior and a black stripe.  That's not a car I have seen myself, so I'm relying on other people's description.  There are quite a few white interior cars in my list which do not have a stripe color listed - plus the 150-200 or so I'd like to get ANY info about...

As far as what info I have on blue cars specifically, I only list four B5/C6W cars at the moment.  Of those, I have the stripe color of only one car actually recorded - and it's white.  Incidentally, most B5 cars had C6D blue interior according to what I've seen so far, and only a few of those have black stripes.

Hope that helps answer the question...

Rather than making a new thread, I have another question. Did any Daytonas have a woodgrain dash? I assume not because I dont think they made any SE Daytonas...except for the modtop one :icon_smile_big:

Yes, SE Daytona's were made....9 total I think.

Bryan

hemigeno

Brian's right, they did make SE Daytonas.  I have seven cars specifically logged with the A47 Sales Code, out of approximately 200 entries with Fender Tag info.  There are bound to be more than these seven out there, but right now it's anybody's guess as to exactly how many were made.

I currently have only one with that color code, but there could be others.  At most, there was probably a very small percentage with that color - and I agree, it looked better than F8.  Go figure...

What do you have against F8 green Gene?  :nana:

Personally, I don't mind F8 - it's my wife that hates it.  I showed her an F5 and F8 car last year, and she absolutely does not want me to repaint the R/T it's original F8 color.  Of course, I mentioned that I could always shop around for another car with a color she likes a little better  :scratchchin:

While F8's alright with me, I do like the blue colors better.

:Twocents:

69_500

I was going to  say that I always thought it as your wife who was against the F8 green. Same goes for my wife, she would prefer a car in b5 blue. She doesn't like R4 red at all either though.

Just a question. I notice ALOT of console '69s have woodgrain on the console but no woodgrain on the dash (SE)...same go for Daytonas?

Yep,

Woodgrain applique was standard on all '69 consoles but was reserved on the dashboard for the SE's only (in '69 anyway) - and that would include the Daytona production run.  4-speed knobs were all woodgrain in '69 but the auto shift knobs were mostly chrome with some being woodgrain.

Gene, you think that most of the shifter knobs on AT's were the chrome one? I know that since I started looked closely at old photo's, and unrestored cars it sure seems that a lot of them had them. Its probably around 50% or so.

we did a pole in another thread and I think 80 % or more said they had them . The ones that didnt said there cars had been restored

I certainly don't know the percentages, but I would imagine the % of chrome knobs on '69 cars to be fairly high.  With a lot of these kind of parts transition issues, you'd expect there to be a break point where cars before "X" date had chrome, and most cars after that had woodgrain.  The weird part about the shifter knobs is that both early and late cars had chrome.   :shruggy:  In fact, most (if not all) of the original/unrestored auto Daytonas that I have seen had the chrome knob.  I'd be hard-pressed to name one off the top of my head that had the woodgrain knob.

That doesn't mean that NO '69s or Daytonas came with woodgrain knobs when new, but the majority seem to have the chromies.

Any Yellow available in 1969 on a Charger.  That would include Y2 Yellow, Y3 Cream and Y4 Gold Metallic.  Y2 is by far the most common of the yellow colors anyway.

69_500

And of the odd color choices for a HEMI Daytona Y2 Yellow seemed very popular.

Is there one built in every color available?

69_500

Are you asking for a Daytona period? Or a HEMI Daytona in every color? I don't know of any HEMI Daytona's in A4, B3, F3, T7, Q5, R6, or Y4.

As far as any color is concerened I think that there is pretty much at least 1 Daytona that was painted in every color that was available. I can't think of any colors that weren't done on at least 1 Daytona. And that includes the 99 99 paint code. Although I still can't think of any T3 Daytona's that I've seen personally.

At this time I can't come up with any photo's of a B3 blue Daytona either, but I know I've seen one before. B7 isn't that common either of a color for Daytona's. Also can't think of any that are Y3 cream either. Know of several that are Y2, and a few that are Y4 but can't remember one in Y3.

I can't say myself because I haven't seen the fender tag, but I have the Wellborn HemiDaytona listed as being T3.  Perhaps Doug S. can verify that for me - but I think that's right.  The color of his car admittedly looks more like T5 in most pictures that I have seen.  It'll be a neat car to see in person (hope to do that next year at the Talladega reunion).

Also, I have two Y4 cars logged but no Y3's or B3's just yet.
