I have a 383 in my truck and the 2 barrell carb has a plug in comming from it.  I think it is a idle switch, but don't know.  I assume it plugs into a positive volt source.  How many volts and can I live without it ? :shruggy:

Are you referring to the wire for an electric choke?

ACUDANUT

I guess. I never had a carb with a wire on it.  looking down at the carb, it is on the right, close to the throttle. NOT on the left where I usually see them for a choke.  Hope that helps.

Don't know the year of the truck but is it like a barrel shaped solenoid, it may be an idle compensator for A/C if you have it.

The truck is a 73.  I think you may be correct. What type of current do I need (pos or neg) ? Thanks. :2thumbs:
