they changed the wheels since last year...mine has 5 spokes on it

of course, mine's never been out of the box...that would make too much sense.

Ya I've got the 5 spokes also. Don't jam the knob from reverse to forward to hard though. Car does a nice wheel spin but if you get carried away you can break the knob off the controller. I broke the 1st one I had after about 5 minutes of use.  :D

Mine has the 5 spokes too, they look like polished torque thrusts and they do look much better. 
I'm just too lazy to take a pic of mine when I can find one on the net.
