why do they keep on selling kits with the incorrect gasket - i have a 1974 charger and bought one of these kits and tried to place gasket on - it does not fit - the seller says he has sold many of these and no-one has complained - i don't understand!!!

The gasket on the left is for column shift models. The plate is made different to allow the shift arm to clear when installing the column.
I have the same problem on my 74 with console setup. Will have to reuse the old gasket for now.

i am sending my gasket out to a vendor for reproduction - it should be available in 3 to 4 weeks.

They should advertise kit for a console shift car.  Once again vendors not checking what they are selling.  i've had numerous problems with vendors on 1974 charger parts.

I don't understand why they didn't know about this years ago. That gasket has been in use since the first 3rd gen console model came off the line.

I think they should provide both type of gaskets in kit - so they are covered!
