I saw this video on YouTube and thought some of you might like to see it too.  The Superbird appears to be gold with a black vinyl top and a #50 on the doors.  I figured someone might know a little bit about the car.  Wonder what ever happened to it.  You can barely see the wing at 0:14 but you can see the car better at 1:25.

I'm the "Aero Guy" who owns the bird!!!  That was a video when it was a pace car in 1972 at Sunset Speedway - near Barrie Ontario. It was painted in Labatt's gold - as the beer company was the sponsor that year. In 1971, it was still in it's original limelight green and painted as the pace car. Im just about finished restoring it and have had custom decals made to duplicate how it looked in 1971. Will be on the road in 2012. I've attached an original photo from 1971 at the track.

I debated a long time about whether to put it back as factory original (everything else is restored back to as it came off the assembly line - well except for a few safety and engine upgrades!!!) - but in the end thought that it had a unique history as a pace car.

So how many people spotted the mistake on the lettering??!!!

Is that "Offical" way to spell it?  Haha. On the old picture of the car (when it was green), what happened to the side of the nose?  Looks like the pace car got a little tire rub. Thanks for posting the pictures!  Great job on the restoration and I give you props for putting the lettering back on.

I was told the dent in the nose happened when the pace car came down off the track and into the infield a little too fast and plowed into some dirt. One option instead of bashing in my new nose to reproduce the dent, maybe I should get a decal made to simulate the dent on the nose??!!
