Hey Guys,

just thought you'd appreciate a couple of pics of REDLINES handywork. I'm ecstatic!
decided on white face vs. the orginal to go with a more "race inspired" look, they should be going in next week.

Update on the rest - engine iis getting wrapped up this week, alterktion front and rear suspension going in as we speak, full 4 wheel disc conversion going in at same time, new stange S60 rear end also going  in with 3.91 gears.

What has your experience been like with REDLINE? (Communication, turnaround time, price, etc.) I have been thinking of having AUTO INSTRUMENTS restore my gages but since reading negative comments about them in this thread http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,43513.0.html I an having second thoughts. Opinions from anyone is appreciated.

I had Autoinstruments do the cluster on my '69, bottom line - it looked good but the gauges were off (by a lot), hence switching to redline.

Communication with redline was OK, you need to stay on top of them like anybody else though.

I'll post if there is any issue with the gauge accuracy but I did make a pretty big deal about the gauges needing to be dead on and I actually had them install and aftermarket tach just to be sure.

I bought the Redline SE woodgrain kit. A little pricey, but terrific quality. It does not even compare to the "sticker" kits you get from Year One.

don't even get me started on the wood sticker kits from year one. terrible.  and not really the grain or anything....just the fit.  not even close to being close...

on the accuracy,  there  are adjustments on them.  I restored 1 cluster for myself and one that I sold, plus have tested all the gauges on several spare clusters.  after adjustment they all read fine.

The only thing that I didn't like about redline is that they did not fix my dimmer switch for the dash lights, it doesnt work. My lights are always on high. But I was like hell removing the instrument cluster just to send it away again.. So I just live with bright dash lights. Its better than not having any..

Beautiful! Whether in black or white, I absolutely love the look of the stock gauges. I truely wish I could afford to have my cluster done, but for financial reasons I'll probably end up retrofitting Autometers or something in there.

dude, you can afford it!! do it yourself. If you want a real deal chrome bezel, you can still buy a repro and do the whole thing for about 400.  if you can live with a painted bezel you can to it yourself for about 150 bucks. that will get you new turn signal lenses, quartz clock conversion kit, brake lense lettering, gauge faces....do a search.  my numbers are assuming that your dash is somewhat functional.  and your switches are just cruddy and not actually peeling, and work.  I'm about to dive into another one to sell on the bag.  I love doing them.  testing and adjusting the gauges, all of it.  it's so cool when you finish one.

Mine is pretty thrashed. I'm not concerned with looks so much as I am with them functioning even. The bezel is cracked, switches peeling, not sure if they work, no clue on the condition of any of the gauges, all there though . . .

How much would you sell me one you've done for? PM?

I am thinking of doing mine, do you know if it's possible to change the amp gauge over to a volt gauge?  Redline was going to do this for me but it may not fit into my budget.  Thanks!  Matt

I dabbled..and failed...but only because of my fat fingers.  I bought a volt gauge from jcwhitney, right size. I tried to take it apart and mount the guts to my cluster, but I broke it.  it would work, though, if I wasn't so clumsy.  I was then going to try and have a local print shop make me a decal ijn the original font.

That is a good idea, I may not have any better luck than you but it can't hurt to try.  I wonder if any of the mopar decal retailers carry a conversion decal.  It seems like it would be a faiirly common conversion.
